http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2015/01/changes_coming_to_eagles_report_hints_at_major_shakeup_after_firing_of_tom_gamble.html#incart_story_package

The aftermath of the team's decision to fire Tom Gamble has not been pretty, and it could soon get a lot worse.

According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, "something big" could soon be going down with the Eagles.

It is important to note that "something big" could mean anything, and the report itself is vague. It certainly opens the door to speculation.

It does not take a rocket scientist, however, to figure out what that "something big" might be.

The line of power in the Eagles' organization was clearly drawn this past week when the team fired head coach Chip Kelly's hand picked front-office ally in Gamble. Kelly brought Gamble over from San Francisco when he was hired, and the two became very close during their two seasons in Philadelphia.

Tom Gamble is highly regarded in the league as a personnel guy. Before Philly, he helped build the Niners. And Kelly liked/likes him.

Howie Roseman...he likes..not so much. Roseman is kind of the Eagles version of Brandon, with a more grating personality. Kelly referred to him as a good salary cap guy...and Gamble as a heck of a football guy.

But, through a decade or more of butt kissing, Roseman has the ear of the Eagle's owner. There appears to be a feud between the football guys in the Eagles organization and the nonfootball guys.
With the release of Gamble, the non football guys are winning.

So...

in this saga...does Kelly asked to be released?

and if so...do I need to ask?

That would be a wet dream. Gamble and Kelly. Obviously Sanchez would be brought in to compete - already has experience with the offense.

Not in a million years will that happen.

No brainer to bring Gamble in now. Icing on the cake would be adding Kelly to the mix.

I remember it being reported before the 2013 draft that the Eagles and Kelly liked EJ Manuel and were targeting him at the top of the 2nd round if he was still there. I bet Chip Kelly could do wonders for EJ. Getting Kelly here would be awesome, but it seems like a waste of time to even think about it. I seriously doubt he goes anywhere, or ends up coming here even if he did get out of his contract.

What, then we toss Whaley aside? He hasn't done anything wrong.

Or EJ would make Chip look like a mistake.

Whaley stays as GM.

Gamble as Football Ops, Whaley as GM, and whomever as Head Coach.

I'd almost bet he ends up back in SF. But he did have offers this year, but decided to stay in Philly, his home town.

I can't believe he was actually escorted from the building. My wife's company used to do that, even if it was due to a layoff and not misconduct.

That screams bush league and pettiness.

You think Baalke takes him back? They have a long time 49ers right now as the Director of Pro Personnel in Mike Williams.

Still think you have to make the call.

My company does that, but we work in a secure office and building so it's required.

Florio is now guessing that the Eagles may TRADE Kelly to one of the teams that needs a coach. Florio is a low-life (he's a lawyer) self-promoter. So the situation is not likely really as desperate as he's painting it.

Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Are they trying to emulate a school system?

So is the Eagle's GM, Howie Roseman.

Its over for now anyway...Roseman gets bumped upstairs and has duties taken away.

Kelly takes over personnel decisions and finds a new head of personnel.

There goes that short lived dream.

What, then we toss Whaley aside? He hasn't done anything wrong.

Uh, yes he has.

He defended the decision to draft Manuel, then doubled down on it by trading up to draft Watkins. With that move, he assumed that a) Manuel would be good enough to make Watkins useful, and b) we wouldn't need to replace EJ anytime soon because he traded away our best chance to do it.

Then, he completely botched the backup situation and the best Qb on the roster wasn't even on the team for one whole preseason game.

And let's not forget the turnstile OL, all while sitting on the typical pile of cap space.

Whaley gets some credit for the knockout D that the Bills have right now, but he is squandering it with utter incompetence on the offensive side of the ball.
