Scot McCloughan.

Ex San Fran and Seattle executive.

He is a bright football mind and has done the job before.

Now the flip side, he has some issues...but who doesn't ?

Since you are out West interviewing, I suggest you head that plane to the Seattle area and look into Scot.

You may have to take a chance.

Interesting....

A source confirmed to PFT that Seahawks’ senior personnel executive Scot McCloughan is resigning from his position in order to tend to personal matters that require his attention. The move was first reported (https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/459162321185558529) by Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
McCloughan joined the Seahawks in 2010 in a supporting role to general manager John Schneider. McCloughan had previously been the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers before stepping down (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/22/49ers-announce-mutual-parting-with-mccloughan/) following the 2009 season. McCloughan’s departure from San Francisco was also to tend to a “private personal matter.”
McCloughan has been a key figure in building the rosters of both of the NFC West’s powerhouse teams.
McCloughan drafted Dashon Goldson (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4444/dashon-goldson), Frank Gore (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3205/frank-gore), Vernon Davis (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3638/vernon-davis), Joe Staley (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4213/joe-staley)and Patrick Willis (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4171/patrick-willis) during his time with the 49ers as GM and VP of football operations. He then helped identify key players for Seattle such as Richard Sherman (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6660/richard-sherman), Russell Wilson (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7460/russell-wilson), K.J. Wright (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6633/kj-wright) and Bobby Wagner (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7533/bobby-wagner) that allowed Seattle to win their first Super Bowl in February.
It’s a big blow to the Seahawks personnel department. McCloughan intends to build his own independent scouting service (https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/459162904798175232) to work from home so he can be around his family....

Just a hunch, but it sounds like McCloughan's wife has his balls in her purse.

Sounds like he has a pretty good gig working from home...

He runs his own scouting business and says a handful of NFL teams pay him $75,000 each to evaluate players

Don't think he's married, and his issue is much more serious than being pussy-whipped.

He's an alcoholic who refuses to stop drinking and claims he has regained personal control over his addiction. That's a hell of a risk to take. That being said there may not be a more talented personnel guy in the business.

If you could convince this guy to stay in an addiction program and monitor him, he would be an excellent VP of Personnel to combine with a HC like Mark Helfrich.

That would be exciting.

I'm trying to recall his response to this on E:60. I think he said he won't do that as of now because he has it under control.

Of course.
Typical Buffalo Bills organization. Always a step behind.
That's all right we will continue on with our second rate flunkies.

Call me Terry P.. I will give you your next move.

an alcoholic who thinks he can do it himself? that doesn't sound like it ends well.

if he was seeking help, sure, take a chance on him. but if he's delusional about himself, when does that bleed into his work.

So what exactly is YOUR better answer then ?

Whaley/Schwartz/ EJ ????? Get ready.

Sometimes you have to step out on the ledge. What really did they have to lose ?

Mediocrity ?

Beeeeecause Washington is the benchmark organization here? I don't hear anyone banging down this guy's door fighting to hire him.

Washington fans are going "typical Redskins organization, always hiring some loser that nobody else is even sniffing".

Proven track record.

More then you can say for anyone in the Bills organization.

Why do you think he wanted Polian so bad ? but I am 100% convinced TP had no idea who Scot McGloughan even is.

We've tried "stepping out on the ledge".

Tom Donahoe was from a successful Steelers organization. We dropped huge money on free agents with Spikes, Fletcher, big name OLmen, Bledsoe. Didn't work.

We brought back Marv Levy trying to relive the good years. Got QBs through the draft, Losman and Edwards. Didn't work.

We brought in Buddy Nix who's a through and through football guy, southern accent and all. Drafted the first 1st round QB since Jim Kelly. Promoted a GM from within. Hasn't worked yet but we had a first winning season in 10 years.

Jesus Christ stop your *****ing.

Are you freaking serious with that idiotic post ?

Donahue, Levy, and Nix ??????

Give me a current name then big guy.

I will go with Whaley/ Schwartz/ EJ....... and maybe 7-8 wins.

I hope to god this bs doesn't go down.

More appropriate to use him strictly as a consultant. Somebody Whaley could learn from.

Consultant ?

Should of made him the gm and Whaley demoted.
If Whaley didn't like it let him walk to then.

Point being is they have interviewed everyone in the business, and they don't even talk to this guy.

Then again I guess Whaley didn't want to throw this guy in front of Terry P. for good reason, his job.

Raiders and Jets now have interest in Scot M.

Wouldn't that be great if he ends up in NY head to head against Whaley.
