On @SportsCenter, @mortreport just said Dan Quinn is the clear favorite for the NY Jets HC spot & Marrone "doesn't have much of a chance."

**BREAKING NFL NEWS**
NY Jets have dropped out of the Doug Marrone sweepstakes. He is no longer target for HC spot. #IBN

His agent told him he had another job waiting and he took the opt out.

Turns out, it's a high school custodian job in Long Island.

Karma.

That would be awesome. Word on talk radio in Atlanta is that Aurthur Blank wants his next coach to also be better handling the media than Mike Smith was. If that's the case it almost automatically eliminates Marrone's thin yella skin.

So that would be 2 teams down for Marrone.

Well he'll sit on his $4M from the Bills even if he doesn't get another HC gig. And he may never get another now...

Maybe he could be an OC... nevermind.

Well maybe he could be an O line coach...nevermind.

I'd love him to go to the Jets but I'd also like to see him get nothing. Win win

I think his best shot to get a HC job is to have an owner like Woody hire him direct. If I'm a GM, I'd have to think a long time about is Marrone good enough to have to deal with all the drama he went though with his last GM?

Muwahahahaha regarding Marrone, but I want NO part of Dan Quinn in Jersey.

Going to the Jets is a lot like getting nothing, especially since he would soon be fired anyway.

Hey, absolute worst case he invests that $4M and gets a "day job". Better than most people on the planet.

I have no hate for the guy to be honest. Just glad he's gone.

I was kind of looking forward to facing Marrone twice a year and watching him crash and burn with the Jets.

If he doesn't get the Jets job, I hope he ends up in Oakland or unemployed. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up without an NFL job based on everything we keep learning.

He'll probably get a job as a lower tier assistant somewhere.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

He only has himself to blame. The Jets probably were gauging his interest through his agent before he quit. They then saw how he burnt the bridges leaving here and wisely wanted no part of that.

I would not be surprised if he wants to be back with a college program.

How reliable is incarceratedbob?

Went through this on a diff message board one year. His source is the internet, which means he reports anything when he encounters it. So the key to his reliability is who he got it from. In this case might have been Chris Mortensen.

Until anyone is signed, I refuse to believe the Jets could possibly botch the harvesting of such a Bronx coach as Marrone who is absolutely perfect for them and soooo must have for the trendy NY market.

It's a great gig in NYC...starts at $80,000 per year:

per LaCanfora...

I hear Doug Marrone's interview with them did not go well. Dan Quinn well positioned now

Lancanfora was calling Marrone a lock two days ago. I'm sick of these media idiots.

He probably was a lock until he showed up for his interview and opened his fat mouth.

Woody " Hi Doug, how's your day going so far? "

Doug " I told you I wanted a green car picking me up from the airport, what the fug Woody, if you can't follow a simple instruction like that, how are we going to work together?"

Woody "Sorry Doug, I didn't get that request"

Doug " This interview is over. This organization is a train wreck "

I wonder if it was the bad press more than the interview that swayed things
