Schefter: Two common threads for elite eight (http://t.co/W3MCm3R7Yx)
By ESPN @espn (https://twitter.com/espn)

As is the case most years, the eight teams in the divisional playoffs all have proven quarterbacks and stability at head coach, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter writes. (http://t.co/W3MCm3R7Yx)

WOW, I feel enlightened.

This is earth shattering news.

And the Bills trade the farm for a WR? And then their HC quits. Why do I believe the Bills won't be on the right track anytime soon?

Head coach leaving puts us on the right track. Addition by subtraction. Next year it will be highlighted just how much of a negative affect this poisonous person was on the team.

That's losers logic.

You should be asking why Russ Brandon hired this guy in the first place. And took two years of your Bills fandom from you.

I particularly like this quote from the article...

"Then, look at the list of quarterbacks leading their teams into the elite eight: Aaron Rodgers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/8439/aaron-rodgers), Russell Wilson (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14881/russell-wilson), Cam Newton (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13994/cam-newton), Tony Romo (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5209/tony-romo), Tom Brady (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/2330/tom-brady), Peyton Manning (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/1428/peyton-manning), Joe Flacco (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11252/joe-flacco) and Andrew Luck (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14874/andrew-luck). They are eight of the very best in world at what they do, and there aren't many better ones who failed to advance this far."

And the accompanying picture with that exquisite copy...

Kinda is completely the opposite of your "FACT"....

FACT: Flacco's development has not gone all that well.

Hmmmmmm.....Have the Bills "haven't had to worry about the QB since 2008?"....and would they be better if we had that QB who's "development has not gone all that well???

Certainly not the best of that bunch. But, in retrospect, as a Bills fan I shouldn't be criticizing the guy.

Wilson, Flacco, and especially Luck, Newton and double-especially Romo have no business being mentioned in the same breath as Brady, Manning and Rodgers.

Let's face facts...

Wilson and Flacco with no defense = no playoffs, let alone championships.
Romo is a choker extraordinaire, probably the worst because he does it in the regular season as well as the post-season.
Newton has done little to establish himself in that peer group.
Brady and Manning put up god-awesome stats, but neither has won a championship without defense. Their consistency in winning over a lengthy period of time and ALWAYS being a contender sets them apart, however.
Rodgers may be the best of the bunch eventually and still has a chance to prove it. Luck still needs to prove he's not Manning or Brady lite.

That being said, as Swiper alluded to, considering the cluster**** Buffalo has had at QB for so long I would probably gladly take any of them for the Bills except for Romo, and maybe Newton.

So the Ravens defense is behind Joe Flaccos gaudy career playoff numbers in basically every category? Makes total sense.....

I'd take any 1 of the 8 to be the Bills QB.

Also add to the list Brees, E. manning, Ben, Tannehill, Ryan, Dalton, Bridgewater, Bortles, Rivers, Davis, Stafford, Palmer, Carr, Cutler.

Bridgewater and Carr could have been here. Would they have work out? They were a lot closer to 1st round talent then our guy was. But, NO, we couldn't bring in anyone to compete with our questionable former 1st round pick at the most important position on the field. Competition is good at any spot other then QB. So put all the eggs in a 3rd round talent your trying to spin into a "franchise" QB and hope for the best.... Super Bowl winning GMing 101.

He owes his ring and a third of his contract to the defense and Boldin.

I hope his gaudy stats provide another win this weekend, fwiw.

The fact is the Buffalo Bills need a real QB, regardless of who the head coach or offensive coordinator or GM or "football czar" may be. The jury is out on the Pegulas as owners until this problem is solved imo. Letting Whaley tell prospective coaches what he is about Manuel is discouraging to say the least.

That defense gave up more than 30 points twice in those playoffs and you want to credit them with the ring?

They held Indy and Brady to 9 and 13 pts. Denver scored 2 ST TD's, so actually they gave up 21 to Manning, in Denver. The SB was a joke, if the lights hadn't gone out the final probably would have been closer to last year's Denver-Seattle game. I didn't give the entire credit to the defense, I'm well aware a couple of their opponents put points on the board, that's why stated the defense AND Boldin...Anquan bailed out Flacco about a half-dozen times, most in key moments of games, by going up and bringing down prayers heaved up for grabs by Flacco.
