All the talk has been about Rex Ryan and his time with the Jets.

What about his 9 years with the Baltimore Ravens?

In 1999, Rex Ryan went from the Cardinals to Brian Billick's Baltimore Ravens as the defensive line coach.

Marvin Lewis was the Ravens Defensive Coordinator from 1999-2001.

Mike Nolan was the Ravens Defensive Coordinator from 2002-2004.

Mike Nolan is currently the DC of the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL's worst defense in 2014.

After being the Ravens defensive line coach for six years, Ryan finally became a Defensive Coordinator in 2005.

In 9 years with the Ravens, Baltimore's defense never ranked lower than 6th overall in the NFL.

In his first year, the defense was ranked second overall in the NFL and second in rushing yards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carry_(American_football)) allowed.[14] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_Ryan#cite_note-Ryan_info-14) By his second year, in 2000, the Ravens' defense set NFL records for fewest points (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football_rules#Scoring) allowed and fewest rushing yards allowed.[20] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rex_Ryan#cite_note-Title_year-20) The defense allowed a combined 23 points in four playoff games en route to a Super Bowl XXXV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXXV) victory, Ryan's only Super Bowl ring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_ring).

Knew that was coming, but I think you know it's not really a fair argument.

9 years straight of having a top 6 defense in the NFL with the Ravens?

Ryan's last year with the Ravens was in 2008, when they lost to the Steelers in the AFC Championship game.

The he goes to the Jets and they magically go to 2 straight AFC Championship games, with Mark Sanchez.

SUPER BOWL

I agree, I am still not completely sold on the hiring and I would have rather gotten a more pure offensive mind who would let the D stay well enough alone because I fear that we are going to gut something that is a great strength and make it shaky at best. He keeps the D almost as is and the coaching level the same I am not against him and I think his OC choice shows some promise.
