    Presser musings

Pegula really doesn't think with a 9 and 7 team thats 2 plays away from 11 and 5 need to have a young coach standing in their locker room...

    That's exactly how I felt.

"New coaches fail generally in their first job"

Even if it's not totally true I agree with that approach. We've been here over and over with no sustained success.

    "I'm going to be loyal"

Intended or unintended shot at Marrone. I like it.

    On Whaley (sort of):

"If we keep drafting like we have been we'll be just fine"

    Agreed

The Bills were a lot more than "2 plays" away from 11-5. One could also say that they were "2 plays" away from 7-9.

    That's silly.

      No, actually they weren't.

Did you not watch the Kansas City and Houston games? Bryce Brown doesn't fumble the ball into the back of the endzone, we probably win that Chiefs game...you could point to a couple of other inexplicable plays in that game and say the same thing, not just that one. The Chiefs completely STOLE that game. EJ Manuel doesn't throw that 80-yard pick-six to JJ Watt, and we win that Texans game in week 4. We probably beat Oakland if a 50-yard conversion on 3rd-and-22 doesn't happen near the end.

I don't know how you can argue with that, and that's just off the top of my head.

One could say that, too. They don't call it "a game of inches" for nothing. Better coaching helps coming out on the positive side of those things, and we now have better coaching IMO.

I really like that they stayed completely away from the college ranks, and wanted somebody with experience.

That's why on any given Sunday. If you watch enough NFL football you can often see that one play and/or drive can make the difference of winning and losing. I mean if Scott Chandler lands on Bryce Brown's fumble what happens then? If the Raiders don't complete the 3rd and 22 who's to say we don't win those two games? All I know is it was nice to see the Bills in so many games late into the 4th quarter which tells me we're narrowing the gap.

                    Re: Presser musings

I'm just watching it now. My own musings...

-I like Pegula. He's not a comfortable spotlight guy, but strikes me as on top of his game, he knows what he's saying if not good presenting it. His mind is razor sharp, and he's sincere and trying to be the best public figure he can be, while absolutely certain he's not good at it.
-I like Rex Ryan. Always did, if unsure of him as an HC. Referencing "Lookie lookie, here comes Cookie" startled me, and made me like him all over again. That was profound, and deeply Buffalo Bills. I don't know if he came on that and decided to quote it via internet research, but if he did I'm not sure how he did it so fast with such instinct for how it may ring to old traditional fans. Even mentioning Billy Shaw. He psyched me. I don't know if I believe yet, but I madly want to. This man can motivate.
-Pegula "you should never be afraid to listen or talk", took it on himself for responsibility. As he's new, it's ballsy. He means to listen, learn and decide then own up.
-Rex almost slipped at opportunities, starting to say others were great, but then making it meaningless, to assert this was the opportunity he wants. That made us the greatest opportunity even if we aren't. Others are better, but don't say it, this is where he means to be (because of more money ?), maybe, but we all realistically knew we weren't the hottest babe at the prom. The guy knows what words are running from his mouth even if he might not always stop them.
-Pegula is really really uncomfortable speaking. Yet he stood up and is.
-Rex will slap Sullivan around weekly and Sullivan will like it.
-Rex is a casual and comfortable leader. This is good in a leader, willing to point out people greater than he. The Big Tree anecdote was sweet, he supposed to ask Kelly over beers.
-Whaley defers to Ryan as he should. Ryan gives a nod to Whaley. This might work.
-Rex sees a need to adapt scheme to players, mentions it, not stuff players into scheme. This is HUGE.
-Bullies up front. Got to love it. He means it.
-Sullivan is awesome. He craves being reminded he's out of his league, and keeps charging ahead to get some more. He probably thinks he's putting on his big boy pants while standing outside looking in the window.
-Buffalo media is nothing to the Rexmeister.
-"We will not be pushed around", it is casual, not pouty.

One for all, all for one.

I don't know this will work, didn't think it could. But it will be fun, and I'll buy in a while. I'll not deny myself the fun of Rexfest 2015, and I want to be one of the all.

                    Kick some ass.
