Without elucidating his plans for EJ Manuel (http://www.nfl.com/player/ejmanuel/2539228/profile), new coach Rex Ryan (http://www.nfl.com/player/rexryan/2524749/profile) acknowledged last week that theBuffalo Bills (http://www.nfl.com/teams/buffalobills/profile?team=BUF)' quarterback situation is "unresolved (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000459227/article/rex-ryan-says-bills-qb-situation-is-unresolved)."
Although Ryan is "excited" to work with Manuel, he made it clear in a Sunday interview with Fox Sports' Ross Jones that the position won't be handed to the No. 16 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft (http://www.nfl.com/draft)

"Will we explore possible veteran free agents or draft picks out there? Absolutely," Ryan said. "We're going to explore everything (http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/buffalo-bills-rex-ryan-ej-manuel-sammy-watkins-kyle-williams-mario-wiliams-011815?cmpid=tsmfb:fscom:nflonfox) to add competition because that makes your whole team better."

Any CFL QBs that are worth a damn?

They have to explore all options and there's no reason for Ryan to commit to EJ right now, but I still think EJ ends up being named the starter for 2015.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but I've done some research and didn't see any.

Wouldn't you know better than most of us?

Competition! Thank goodness.

If EJ had some competition last year instead of getting the starting quarterback job handed to him, the Bills and EJ would be better off today.

The competition will be between EJ, a seasoned veteran, and a rookie via the draft.

I'm pulling for the rookie QB.

All 3 quarterbacks will be working with a new offense.

May the best quarterback win.

I haven't watched a non Bills NFL game in two years, I was just hoping the CFL was still around.

So no go on the CFL. How about a ridiculously successful college QB with a cannon of an arm, a good completion % playing in a pro style offense, started 4 years and was a team captain... but is too short or too skinny so he won't get drafted where he otherwise should?

Flutie reincarnate? I'd take that with this team in a second.

Or Drew Brees. Or Russell Wilson.

NFL scouts sometimes undervalue small guys.

I don't know, I'm asking all the college scouts that post here if there is one of those guys in the draft.

Say hello to The Sanchize again. Rex has the tat.

If everything works out perfectly, we might be able to trade Pegulas for Woody Johnson and the year 2010 and head to New Jersey at a discount on plane fare.

This is confusing, even by Mace standards.

Not really if you read it. It means we're trying hard to be the 2010 Jersey Jets.

I would rather dirty Sanchez start than EJ going into next year. I don't see a better option out there. Sign Mark and let him and EJ compete for the starting job. The majority of Bills resources should go into the offensive line and signing their own players.

in a perfect world we sign a roughly 23-30 year old FA to compete with EJ draft a project this year late

EJ wins competition we either draft one 2016 or happy we waited for EJ

pretty simple

As someone who follows college football closely, this is one of the worst years ever for QB's. Winston, Mariota & Hundley will go early and none are sure fire stars. Winston has the best natural ability on the field but is a walking migrane off the field. 2016 will be far better.

Aquiring a Vet (or 2) is the way to go this year.

Nick Davila Arizona Rattlers -Arena League Offensive Player of the Year

(I wonder of the Arena League actually gives out a Defensive player of the year).

100 TD passes in each of his first 5 seasons

Now say it with me...

"we will rally behind Nick Davila and play good football".

Meh he is slowing down he only had 1 rushing TD last year compared to the 6 he had in 2013 and 7 he had in 2012.

Lots. Rex did it repeatedly with the Jets. Benched Sanchez. Benched Geno. Are you saying it's surprising in any way that a new HC (and I mean literally ANY new HC) would be hitching their wagon firmly to a guy that got benched last year? The only surprise would be if Rex said "EJ's my guy".

I'd like to see Hoyer come in and compete. No doubt he'll win and will be able to hold the fort down until we can find a better option, be it through the draft or FA.

What's the point of signing Hoyer if we're stuck in the same exact situation of needing to find a better option? Where's the benefit to starting a player that we already know is not good enough?

So Marrone benched him, then walked out when Orton retired and found himself left with only Manuel. LOL. Add insult to injury. Fool.

The question WHO is the better option? With there being no clear cut superior QB available in UFA I think you find a guy that you think is good enough to put you in a position to win every week and/or avoids turnovers and when asked can step up when needed to win the game. It's a tried and true formula. The Seahawks are proving it. I know people want to rave on Russell Wilson as being more than being a game manager but truth be told if the Packers don't stall inside the 1/Seahawks stop the Packers on those two drives at the 1 are we all talking about the greatness that is Wilson? Nope we'd all be hammering for his 4 INTs and not doing enough late to win.

If Tampa takes a qb with their first pick, as I expect--Glennon will be available for a late round pick.

And I would take Glennon over any QB the Bills could get in this draft.

I guess my feeling is if a guy like Hoyer is the best available option, why wouldn't we just stick with Manuel and see if he's improved and develops? Hoyer's play and stats have been worse than EJ and he probably has a lower ceiling. It doesn't make any sense to give up on EJ if we're just replacing him with a guy that's been worse.

I think they should just do a QB tryout minicamp.

Bring in 20 or so QB options, and just let them throw to 20 or so WR options and the best two get signed to contracts to compete in training camp. At this point, it couldn't hurt.

That's my hope, personally.

Why Lovie Smith benched him after the Steelers win made little sense to me.. but then we're talking about a 2 win team with a coach who is lost.

The more guys you bring in the more chance you have at finding "the" guy. I'm not a Hoyer fan and really not a fan of any of the QBs in UFA but I'm for bringing in someone to see if they are better than EJ as we last year with Orton that can be enough to get us so far. Yet I'm one that always feels that QBs are made and not born. So until we finding a better option at TE and a better O-line it won't matter who the QB we have is.
