View Full Version : How Will Tim Murray be Received by His Peers This Weekend?

SpikedLemonade

Assuming he is attending the All-Star festivities in the hopes of trade talks, how will he be received by his fellow GMs?

I imagine he will be met with with applause out of respect for discovering this intelligent strategy of simply tanking a team for 2 or more years in the hopes of improving the team through high draft picks.

Why stupidly attempt to build a team like other GMs do when you can simply destroy a team and reap the rewards?

Murray is brilliant!!!

Go compare the Blackhawk's and King's records over those years to the Sabre's record these past 2 years (and who knows next year?).

Not even close.

Then again, you will just say the Sabres are better in tanking.

We will see how this master strategy works out.

Karma can be a *****.

Karma can be a *****, but here's no denying that the players this organization were built around... outside of Ryan Miller were absolute pigs.

Have a look at this..

Drafting is not a means to an end in the NHL, Football sure, Not the NHL.

The NHL is like MLB, You draft an 18 year old with the hopes he cracks your lineup at the age of 24.

This is some scary results >>>>>http://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/CHI/draft.html

You know why Risto was a scratch versus Detroit??

DETROIT – Ted Nolan made sure his young defenseman understood the situation.

This was not a punishment for Rasmus Ristolainen. The 20-year-old defenseman was a healthy scratch Sunday night in Detroit because the Buffalo Sabres coaching staff could see he was mentally fatigued.

With an eight-day All-Star break awaiting after the game with the Red Wings, a 6-4 loss extending the skid streak to 11 games, Nolan wanted Ristolainen to take a break.

“He’s been making some uncharacteristic decisions lately,” Nolan said Sunday afternoon in Joe Louis Arena. “Sometimes when you have a young player like that, it’s good to sit. We know he’s going to be one heck of a player but sometimes you throw too much at a kid early. We’ve got an eight-day break so we thought right now would be a good time to have him watch. We showed him some film of some decisions he made.”

Lecter, why hasn't Nolan been fired?

Any real NHL team would have fired a coach who is coming off of last year's historically poor record followed by this year's record and currently on a 11 game losing streak.

It is like the Sabres are thumbing their nose at the NHL with their blatant tanking.

That is just false and a rationalization.

The only other team that openly tanked was Pittsburgh and that eventually led to changes to the draft lottery system as the Sabres behaviour will no doubt lead to further changes.

Don't confuse simply sucking with intentionally tanking. The Oilers simply suck. The Sabres are purposely tanking for a 2nd year.

so is every team that trades away expiring contracts and sticks with a rebuild "intentionally tanking?" or is there some arbitrary line youve created that identifies the distinction? because that appears to be the case. because so far, the only difference between this and other rebuilds is the sabres record. same format, same results standings wise. so i guess all those other teams were tanking as well?

i have no issues calling this a tank. what irks me is pretending that this hasnt been done before so many times simply to score trolling points.

I guess I'll take the logical route.

The logical route is to conclude that the Sabres have intentionally decided to lose games for at least a 2 year period.

Some how a GM that has not proven he can succeed as a NHL GM is being given credit for a strategy where his team intentionally loses and he trades players away to make his team worse.

If you can't see how that is wrong and all you can come up with is that other teams have done it in the past, I'm not sure you ever will.
