    Panthers working to rev up offense

    Workhorse RB Davis is crucial to improvement
    Dan Henning has some new toys to play with.

    Henning is the offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers, a team that averaged 16.1 points (30th in the NFL) and 267.5 total yards (31st) in 2002. He was occasionally criticized because of the offensive ineptitude, but he was playing with an almost-empty toy box.

    Now, with training camp set to begin Friday at Wofford, Henning's toy chest has been filled with new items. And the Panthers, who lived on their defense a year ago, are planning on making some noise on the other side of the ball in an attempt to improve that 7-9 record.
