Mainly because 5 of their teams will be moving West. Here's how it shakes out for next year:
*Anaheim is purchasing the Norfolk Admirals and moving them to San Diego.
*Calgary will move their top team from Glens Falls to Stockton, CA. (Their ECHL team, meanwhile, will move to Glens Falls.)
*Edmonton is moving their affiliation from Oklahoma City to Bakersfield.(Bakersfield's ECHL team will move to Norfolk.)
*Los Angeles is moving their AHL team from Manchester, NH to Ontario, Calif.(which was the Kings' ECHL affiliate; they will keep their Reign nickname. The Monarchs will migrate to the ECHL and they'll keep their nickname too.)
*San Jose will move their AHL team from Worcester to....San Jose! They'll play out of the SAP Center(aka the Shark Tank).
Las Vegas, whose ECHL franchise was on voluntary suspension due to arena problems, will not be back. For the record, they're trying to lure the NHL to Vegas. (IMO, it won't work. Too long to explain here, alas.)
