The Next Bills QB? Grey Cup MVP: Bo Levi Mitchell

    Special thanks to Dr. Who.

Bo Levi Mitchell turns 25 in March, is 6'2 and 200 lbs.

Currently plays for the Calgary Stampeders and put up some good numbers in 2014.

    Bo Levi in Buffalo?

Bolevit or not, this kid could be the guy competing against EJ Manuel for the starting quarterback job.

He is a more interesting prospect than any current free agent on the board.

Jeff Garcia and Doug Flutie both paid their dues in the CFL and turned in to pretty good quarterbacks in the NFL.

Bo Levi is mobile too. Very interesting statistics even before the 2014 season.

    2014

Mitchell has dressed for 17 games (14 starts) and completed 264 of 417 passes (63.3%) for 3,389 yards and 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His 98.3 efficiency rating was the highest in the league. His longest pass was a 102-yard touchdown to Maurice Price in the season-opener against Montreal. He also carried the ball 35 times for 232 yards and four touchdowns. On Aug. 9 he scored an eight-yard touchdown on a fake field goal.

On July 24 he tied Jeff Garcia for the CFL record for most consecutive wins to start a career with seven. On Sept. 6 he became the first quarterback in CFL history to win 12 of his first 13 starts. He was on the one-game injury list for Game 12 after suffering a knee and ankle injury on Sept. 13. He dressed for Games 13 and 14 but did not play. Mitchell started the Western Final — his first playoff start — and completed 14 of 22 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns and rushed twice for five yards and a touchdown. He also started the Grey Cup where he completed 25 of 34 passes for 334 yards and one interception and added four rushes for 19 yards and was named the game's MVP.

    .....

    2012

Mitchell dressed as a backup quarterback for all 18 regular season games, two playoff games and the Grey Cup. He was used as the Stamps’ short-yardage quarterback and ran the ball 34 times for 67 yards and five touchdowns.

    Career Stats:

    17 career starts in 3 years, 65% completion rate, 4,713 yards, 34 TD's and 13 Int's.

This used to be where we got our first coaching prospects as well.

If we dig deep enough the Bills might hit pay dirt.

The Bills have to dig deep, Swiper.

All Bo has to do is grow a mullet and I'm all in.

        Bo in Buffalo?

        Destiny awaits.

A highlight film without music? Oh well.

1 minute 44 seconds in, Mitchell takes the snap behind center.

He didn't play them all but at least he finished, unlike Sam Bradford.

Zero risk. See if he can hand the ball off and hit some passes downfield. Has a live arm.

Positive: High-percentage passer who is best throwing against the underneath coverage. Patient in the pocket, remains poised and quickly locates the open receiver. Senses the rush and steps up to avoid it or gets outside the pocket buying time for receivers. Displays a nice sense of knowing where receivers are on the field. Throws with good timing, rarely has receivers waiting for the ball and is very accurate in the short and intermediate field. Places passes into receivers E(TM) hands and always gives them a chance to catch the ball. Effectively commands and controls the offense.

Negative: Struggles with his downfield accuracy. Loses velocity on the ball throwing in motion. Not adverse to putting the ball into coverage. Occasionally slow to locate the safety.

Analysis: Mitchell was an ultra-productive small school passer who lacks the size and physical skills to be anything other than a backup quarterback in a timing offense at the next level.
