Scott Norwood's AFC Title Rings up for Auction

The 1990 ring is expected to command more money, said Dan Imler, SCP Auctions vice president, because had Norwood not missed the kick in the Super Bowl at the end of that season, the Bills would have owned Super Bowl rings. Imler said the company's conservative estimate for the 1990 ring is $15,000.

Is he broke too? I heard him and Jamaal Anderson were shootin' the breeze the other day. They're trying to get enough capital to start their financial planning business.

I'm going to bid on the 1990, I probably won't win it but I'll try.

An acquaintance of mine owns Andre Reed's jersey from SB XXV. (The actual shirt he wore)

I actually held it in my hand.

It was given to him by Andre's Mom.

I guess I don't understand the thinking on this stuff.

An athlete accomplishes something. He gets a few trinkets for his contribution.

                  And he sells them.

I understand if it's going to be auctioned for charity or something, but just to auction them off for some quick cash?

                  That I don't understand.

And then there's the people that buy this stuff.

                  Why?

I understand fan-dom, and I understand collecting....but why in the world would you want to collect a symbol of someone else's accomplishments?

Go out an earn one yourself. A ring. A belt. a 300 game.

And why would a parent want to readily dispose of one of their kid's symbols?

                  That I'll never understand.
