Jerry Hughes is going to command over $10 million a season.

A franchise tag on Hughes would cost about $12 or $13 million for the 2015 season.

I don't think it's possible to sign Hughes and extend Dareus.

Hughes has said, "there's no such thing as a hometown discount."

Hughes has been very good for the Bills, but he has also cost the team some big penalties.

Referees think he has a certain reputation, and that reputation isn't great.

Remember the phantom unsportsmanlike penalty on Hughes in the New England game?

I think the penalty had its roots in stories like this.

You get more bees and less penalties with honey, Jerry.

Once you get a reputation it's hard to change it.

The highest paid centers in the NFL make about $6 million per season.

That's about a $6 million dollar difference between signing a top free agent center vs. signing Jerry Hughes.

Stefen Wisniewski and Rodney Hudson will be hitting the free agent market in about a month. Both will turn 26 years old in 2015.

I don't think Eric Wood would mind moving to guard at this point in his career. He turns 29 years old in March and is coming off a less than spectacular year.

If the Bills sign Wisniewski or Hudson and move Wood to guard, the offensive line is set and they have an extra $6 or $7 million of cap space to work with.

Move Wood to guard. Quarterbacks wins Championships. Let's protect EJ.

I think I'd offer Hughes 6 year $60M... $21M bonus + $9M guaranteed...

2015 salary guaranteed $4M = $7.5M cap
2016 salary guaranteed $5M = $8.5M cap
2017 salary $6M = $9.5M cap
2016 salary $7M = $10.5M cap
2019 salary $8M = $11.5M cap
2020 salary $9M = $12.5M cap

The Fins Center Samson Satele is a FA.

Don't know if he would want to play in Buffalo though.

Bonuses pro rate over 5 years, so you would add 4.2 million on those. Otherwise I think that could be a market value offer, I'll look more into edge rusher contracts.

Is Eric Wood such a liability at Center? Is he that much better of a Guard? I'll answer your question this way, O-line the the Bills top priority this off season. So signing someone else to play Guard/Center takes priority over Hughes.

5 years.. $4.2 is correct. But it's a 6 year deal.

It's February, feldspar.

Stop avoiding the question!

Hughes or not?

$14 million per season, or sign the best free agent center available for a lot less, and move Wood to guard?

Can't pay Hughes $14 million and expect to extend Dareus too.

The Big MD is going to command the biggest contract ever for a defensive player at his position in NFL history.

Well technically you asked what I'd want to do so don't go parsing semantics with me Mister Man.

Given your tedious reliance on oppressive verbage, I'd resign Dareus, move Wood to guard, sign the best FA center and see how much Jabaal Sheard wants.

Mister Mace, you're awesome. Love your original (God forbid) sense of humor. You are a dose of sunshine, fresh as a fart in your mother's living room.

Cheers.
