Jerry Hughes is going to command over $10 million a season.
A franchise tag on Hughes would cost about $12 or $13 million for the 2015 season.
I don't think it's possible to sign Hughes and extend Dareus.
Hughes has said, "there's no such thing as a hometown discount."
Hughes has been very good for the Bills, but he has also cost the team some big penalties.
Referees think he has a certain reputation, and that reputation isn't great.
Remember the phantom unsportsmanlike penalty on Hughes in the New England game?
I think the penalty had its roots in stories like this.

You get more bees and less penalties with honey, Jerry.
Once you get a reputation it's hard to change it.
The highest paid centers in the NFL make about $6 million per season.
That's about a $6 million dollar difference between signing a top free agent center vs. signing Jerry Hughes.
Stefen Wisniewski and Rodney Hudson will be hitting the free agent market in about a month. Both will turn 26 years old in 2015.
I don't think Eric Wood would mind moving to guard at this point in his career. He turns 29 years old in March and is coming off a less than spectacular year.
If the Bills sign Wisniewski or Hudson and move Wood to guard, the offensive line is set and they have an extra $6 or $7 million of cap space to work with.
