The Toronto Maple Leafs could be on the verge of going full Buffalo Sabres.

Haha. Awesome. Just realized it several years/contracts too late.

I would move kessel now, maybe get another ultra high pick for this draft.

There is like 7 or 8 years on the deal left. Good luck moving it.

You out out a feelers for him, I'm sure a team would jump

Maybe. He is a proven scorer. They always get a hard look. But with this year and the amount of time on the deal, they would be selling super low.

Problem is they have contracts that no one will want. The Sabres were fortunate to be able to unload Leino and Ehrhof. Hard to rebuild when you can't get rid of dead weight due to bad contracts.

The difference here is the players with the big contracts other than Clarkson, are good players. Leino and Ehrhoff were not.

Erhoff is a good defenseman. The length of the deal, and ex post facto recapture penalty is what made them get rid of him.

Regardless, I full expect to hear about Spiked picketing daily in front of Leafs headquarters to express his outrage at their plans.

A team in Toronto could not possibly do what the Sabres did for 2 years.

                          Wouldn't be tolerated.

Yeah, and because Toronto refused to break it down and start over, they've been mired in mediocrity since the 03 lockout. That's not respect. It's stupidity.

And that's exactly where the Sabres would be if they had kept all the players they ditched and tried to win with the status quo.

you cant speak logically to spiked about this. he wont allow it.

apparently, the leafs using the same route, and actually trading away players that DONT have expiring contracts for youth and picks is acceptable.
