Everything I've seen being reported about Montador's death is pointing to natural causes. He was going through concussion-related issues towards the end of his career.

Very sad. A few years ago when he played for Sabres I took my Dad and my boys to Raleigh to see the Sabres play the Hurricanes. during warm ups Montador grabbed a puck and threw it over the glass to one of my sons. He then noticed my other son and threw one over to him as well. My boys were so excited and cherished those pucks for a long time. Very sad. RIP Steve.
