View Full Version : Which mediocre FA QB would you rather sign?

Mr. Miyagi

There is no doubt we're going to bring in a veteran QB to compete with EJ, a 2015 version of Kyle Orton.

Of all the mediocre QB free agents, which one would you hate the least?

I cant believe Im saying this, but Sanchez, with Jake Locker a close 2nd

Horrifies me to say Sanchez also, but have to. 2nd choice would be other garbage. Has to be other garbage somewhere.

Edit to my previous post: New order - Sanchez 1, Other garbage (specifically Sam Bradford) 2, Jake locker 3

They're all basically the same guy, an average QB. My QB wish list:
1. Mallett
2. Locker
3. Sanchez

Now "wish" probably means more like "I'd be ok with".

If Sam Bradford is released I'd much rather have him. Then Locker or Hoyer.

I really don't like McCown and Sanchez.

And that's how bad this FA class is. I voted for Sanchez also, and now have to go shower off the grit and grime.

I went with Locker, despite the injury issues. Roman has done well with mobile guys, and I think he has the highest upside and potential of the guys listed. He also played pretty well in 2013 before he got hurt.

Other Garbage was a 5 star recruit who could flat out flys, toss it in the can and had plenty of gamey.

Don't dispose..er...discount.

Christian Ponder is my top choice followed by Colt McCoy, Blaine Gabbert, Mark Sanchez and Jake Locker.

All of the choices other than Locker have low ceilings. You know they will never be true franchise QBs.

Locker comes with a lot of risk.

If we were not already going to roll the dice with EJ to see if he can be a franchise QB, I would like Locker in there.

I think the Bills want a safe bet and are willing to take a guy with a low ceiling. An experienced back up. In that case, the other options are virtually the same.

I think Ponder and Gabbert have as high of ceiling as Locker does. As one thing Locker has never shown, whether it be in the NCAA or NFL is having a high completion percentage. Toss in his inability to stay healthy is a major red flag and I say this as a former RJ supporter. If we are going to take an experienced back up I think Colt McCoy offers the highest ceiling of all the guys out there. As not sure I count Ponder as a back up but more as a guy who lost his starting job in part because of a coaching change.

Coincidentally that is Kyle Orton's middle name.

i wouldnt have a problem with locker matt moore or sanchez as the #2 or the competition

best scenario would be bradford released and we get him somehow

2nd best scenario EJ wins the job and starts

So where are the Spartacus and Swipers of the world, who were clamoring for Josh McCown (0 votes)?

By last night, the WGR poll had 77% of Bills fans that were against signing McCown.

Ponder YUCK or Locker would be the best fit for Roman's style of offense.

Based on how bad Ponder is, Locker wins by default.

Unfortunately, Locker can't stay healthy.

Now that's an all star team.

This was my vote as well.

He's got the best TD to INT ratio of all of them and had an solid year in Miami in 2011 starting 12 games.

The others on the list have less than stellar turnover numbers.

So where are the Spartacus and Swipers of the world, who were clamoring for Josh McCown (0 votes)?

I did not clamor for Josh McNown. I don't really don't like him all that much. But, to me anyway, he is a veteran who knows how to huddle a team, read a defense, make audibles, etc, etc, etc. We don't have one of those and must get one. So in that vane, I'd take him.

My preferences for the "garbage" that is out there I mentioned in another thread: Matt Schaub specifically has played at a high level. Drew Stanton, Travaris Jackson, Kirk Cousins, Matt Moore would be ok with me also.

I think Colt McCoy, Mike Glennon, Michael Vick, Matt Flynn are garbage.

I'm more down on Matt Cassel than I was a few years ago.

I don't like Ponder. I haven't seen enough of Locker to form an opinion. I am more down on Hoyer than 6 months ago because he had a lousy finish to the year. IDK about Mallett.

McNown is somewhere in between. I never clamored for him though.
