Source: Browns still in hunt to sign McCown

They can have him! I don't want another garbage journeyman back up quarterback that ain't worth the ink he signs with. We are seeing a lot of guys get cut. There will be a better option.

I'm sitting here sending major positive energy and vibes to Haslam. Going out to find a church to light some candles.

Sounds like agent speak. 2 franchises that are lukewarm on him as a backup, so the agent is trying to use that to squeeze a few more dollars.

Ultimately for the people saying no, lets say our starting QB gets us to a 9-5 record and then pulls a hamstring and will miss the next two weeks. Who do you expect to come off the bench and go 1-1 and get us into the playoffs? Tuel?

I'm so ambivalent towards this signing. On the one hand I think, why would I want Josh McCown on my team. On the other hand I look our roster and FA market and think, why would I not want Josh McCown on my team.

          However this situation turns out...whatever.

He's old. But he can hand off. The way everybody got onto Tuel a couple of times last year. He can at least fill that void. He won't be the only additional QB brought in.

Well, since McCown won all of ONE game last year for the Bucs against the lowly Redskins, I would give Tuel as good a chance to win as I would McCown.

Yeah, I guess I can see that. But either way though...no big deal, right?

idk man. him and sanchez will probably remain the best two options regardless. gotta get one of the two since theyre gonna have to get a baseline veteran no matter what. might as well be him

The Browns are one of the worst run franchises in the league. Why are we competing with them for a terrible qb? Just let them have him please.

Well, I am happy to have Whaley as GM.

But like I said, ONE WIN last year against a CRAP team at that by McCown says Tuel is as likely to win as he is.

Tuel has never won an NFL game. Against any opponent.

Some folks here are dopes. I know you have watched the Bucs for years. I pay attention to your thoughts about them and their players.

I think Schaub probably gets released and should be on that list.

He was better than Sanchez, I'm not sure if he still is but he's not that far from a 4000+yard season and his physical skills haven't declined. He might be a case of bad teams with bad OCs and not fitting the scheme. Or he might be done. If we sign 2/3 I'd be happy that we've done all we can this season.

Schaub, McCown, EJ, Hope and Change puts us 5 deep at QB.
