View Full Version : More Moves Coming .... Cutler?

We are clearly in win now mode. Mario is a year or two away from a monster cap number, Dareus will be a pending FA, Kyle is getting toward the end of the line, Gilmore (shut down CB) is going to want to get paid.

All this and we don't have a QB. Chicago wants to dump Cutler? Lets go for it.

To quote Phil Simms, "You can win a super bowl with Jay Cutler." We don't need him to be the leader of the team.

Make the move.

What would you trade for him?

They don't want anything, they just want rid of him. That is what I read at least. A conditional 7th in 2017 is my offer.

I get that, but who are they going to replace him with? If you manage to get Cutler then your cap is gone.

I'd send EJ to Chicago for Cutler and the Bears' 1st round pick to compensate for the Bills taking on Cutler's ridonkulous salary

Do the Bills have room under the salary cap to take on cutler's deal without cutting/restructuring a bunch of other player contracts?

What is Cutlers contract?

I think we have room. But it would obviously mean we are done in FA. No Hughes, no high profile OL. That would be it.

His OC in Chicago that trashed him is now an asst. on the Bills staff.

Never say never but it seems like a longshot.

What is Cutlers contract?

$15M in salary for this year. $16M in 2016, $15M in 2017, $16M in 2018, $20M in 2019 and $21.7M in 2020.

They could restructure.

Bears pick 7th. There is a real possibility that they would have Mariota available to them if they want him. That would set the stage for a Cutler draft day trade.

Mariota will not make it past the 6th pick if he drops.

Why would he restructure? Cutler is a baby, I do not see him being easy to negotiate with.

Trade for Keapernick. Friendly contract and SF knows they are not going to win this year. Take the contract and give them 2 twos and they can tank for 2016 for all I care...

Bears pick 7th. There is a real possibility that they would have Mariota available to them if they want him. That would set the stage for a Cutler draft day trade.

In addition to his $15M base salary Cutler is due this year being guaranteed, $10M of his 2016 base becomes guaranteed if he is on the roster at the start of the league year next Tuesday. That means any team trading for Cutler not only is committed to him for this year, but also for 2016.

Do that instead of Cutler.

So you are committed to Cutler for two years. The time is now. Go for it.
He may be an a-hole but defenses have to respect his arm and will back them off giving Shady more room.

How is Keapernick's contract friendly? He is making the same amount of money as Cutler, although I would take him over Cutler for sure.

He isn't though, Kaepernick has several de-escalators in his deal that lower his salaries. It's not cheap, by any stretch, but a notable chunk of his contract is fluff.

I don't see us getting a high profile OL if we want to improve our TE situation with a veteran.
