So far this offseason, Ryan seems hellbent on rebuilding the Bills in the image of his former Jets teams, and while those teams had some success over the half-decade he was there, he left a trash heap of mediocrity at the Meadowlands when he departed.

Hugely wordy and in depth. I really like Ryan for being Rexfest, and really want this to work, but this is about as close to my pessimism as it comes.

Garbage article from a garbage website.

Idzik is to blame for most of the talent issues. Ryan did a fantastic job with the crap hand he was dealt.

Dunno folks, he's working real hard to make his Jets again. Says he learned a lot, so why remake the Jets >

People completely flipped their opinions on Ryan once he donned blue. Look back at some of the Jets threads from last year.

Happenstance. The Bills already had a good defense and ST's when he took over. And in the absence of a franchise QB, the smartest thing to do is build up the running game.

Yeah because the Bills are the pinnacle of the NFL.

There is nothing Rex Ryan can do to this franchise to RUIN it, Nothing!!

When you can't even sniff the post season for 15 years strait in a league that see's almost half it's teams make it.

You suck, And you're really good at sucking..

Rex would have to try really, really, Hard to ruin things..

We are a trash heap!! And we have been for a very long time!!

No. Idzik was only there for two years. Ryan's teams were bad before that.

I don't think the writer of this article knows what he is talking about.

This writer said: "Cassel wasn't exactly a very willing mentor to Teddy Bridgewater in Minnesota last year"

Well, I read just the opposite of that somewhere else.

I read that despite being injured, Cassel mentored & worked with Bridgewater all season which he didn't have to do.

The Jets signed a number of FA's to high priced short term contracts the first two years Rex was the Jets HC.

Then they did not replace those players like Revis with other GOOD players after they left.

That is the reason the Jets fell apart.

I read on a Jets board that Rex had a hand in drafting Richardson but that Idzik was responsible for the rest of that draft which was a terrible draft for the Jets.

Why do people assume Rex has final player/personnel say? I'm sure Whaley consults with Rex, but I doubt Rex has the power to veto anything Doug wants to do. The same in NY. I don't think Rex was the one refusing to provide any talent to the roster in his final few seasons there.

Ideally Whaley and Ryan will be on the same page re:player acquisitions. The last thing we need is another Mike Williams pissing match between the GM and HC.

Rex really likes Sammy, so it's not like the old days when Saban outfitted all of the receivers with bigger facemasks so they could block for OJ.

But building up the running game means building up the OL, not going after flashy new toys. Over the past decade and a half, the Bills have had a lot of above average skill players at the WR and RB positions. It hasn't worked because we've never been able to keep a decent OL together.

Do you really think Whaley would take on a $9 million cap hit for an RB and give up a player like Kiko if the coach wasn't on board? Do you really think this trade happens if Marrone had stayed?

I agree that Whaley should- and probably does- have final say over personnel, but Rex is driving this whole thing. And that's the way it should be: The coach and GM largely agree on what the team needs, so the coach asks for something and the GM does his best to get it. I've already made my opinion about these moves known, but I think Rex is behind them and, while I question the decisions so far, the GM should be getting him the guys he wants so he can sink or swim on his own.

This team so far DOES look like the jets because Rex is depending on the running game , his defense and an average QB (Cassel)to carry the team) What people who are writing these articles are there aren't a lot of above average qb's in the market to bring in. Hell if Sanchez is the best out there and we brought him in , he's still average. If the bills don't look to improve the team when a better option than Cassel is out, there ,only then will I worry.

They're trying to build up the OL. They have good pieces in Glenn, Wood, and Henderson, added Incognito, and are rumored to be going after Iupati.

Every team that wants to bolster their O-line is going after Iupati.
