I think this would be a #2 CB upgrade with McKelvin either headed out and Graham taking over or Graham to FS and McKelvin moving to #3 CB.

He improves the defense day one.

He improves the defense day one.Agreed. There were Revis rumors and maybe when we knew we wouldn't get him we moved on to other CB options.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we made a significant signing at CB. It could come with a McKelvin release though. The Bills would save 2.9 mill if they cut McKelvin.

Mckelvin prob has trade value - wouldn't need to cut him outright

It would surprise me - their 2014 offensive performance was wanting.

Maxwell will be very expensive, even though I like him. At least $8-$9 million per year. That's approaching Richard Sherman money.

If we cut Mckelvin, I might be fine with it. At the least, I would rather pay that money to Maxwell than to Hughes.

Regardless, I don't know how good of a move it would be long-term. What do we do with Gilmore's contract next year? Is Maxwell worth $5 million more per year than McKelvin?

I'd rather the Bills sign Maxwell than Hughes.

Yeah, no thanks. We need a replacement for Brooks, not Gilmore, McKelvin or Graham and that guy can come from almost anywhere and be had cheap. Don't like them even sniffing around top dollar corners this off-season.

Rex needs a top flight corner to run the type of defense he likes to run.

Whether or not Maxwell is truly elite is a matter of opinion but he's better than Gilmore.

Top flight corners cost a lot of $ and cap, though.

No way this happens, the Bills won't outbig the likes of Jacksonville which is where I bet he lands.

Same me system bigger money for him in better weather

Yahoo's Rand Getlin reports the Eagles are "definitely out in front" for free agent CB Byron Maxwell.

As inferior Kareem Jackson landed $8.5 million annually to stay in Houston, Maxwell should easily push for $10 million per year. Expected to be extremely active this week, the Eagles could conceivably have both Maxwell and Devin McCourty locked up by Tuesday evening. Word on the street has Philly going all in on free agency and selling their draft for Marcus Mariota.

If that's their plan, Kelly will be unemployed come this time next year.

Maxwell could be looking for $12 million per year per Philly.com

The question is, how interested ($$) are the Eagles? Maxwell is looking for somewhere in the $10-12 million a year range, according to a source close to the situation. Will Kelly want to bid that high for a cornerback who seemingly fits the Eagles' defensive scheme and the coach's size and age requirements, but has only 17 career NFL starts?

We're interested in a CB but we can't re-sign Searcy? I hope this is BS.

Searcy is a S.

Searcy is a S.

The logic behind it (not re-signing Searcy) is that we can't put too much resources in the secondary, be it CB or S. And now we allegedly are interested in a CB.

Too pricey, but I wonder if this would signal a move for Leodis.

Not cut, but maybe to safety? 2 converted CBs playing S with their eyes on the action? High pressure D, could lead to a lot of turnovers. :D

I think it's media speculation because Rex Ryan loves Revis so much and the thought if we're pursuing Revis we need a CB. The truth is we don't. I think we have four solid options at CB in Gilmore, McKelvin, Graham and Robey. I can't see us paying big time money on a CB. Maybe we bring in a vet to compete and also contribute as a return man is a possibility but I can't see us putting more than $2.75 million in cap room on the secondary this offseason.
