Via Omar Kelly from the Sun Sentinel. A later tweet said that the deal could include as much as $13 million guaranteed for the Free Agent TE.

fits into the new system very well.. can line up in the backfield, good pass catching Tight end, run after catch, and good blocker.... and subtracting talent from a division rival.

positive move

Yep. Nothing to add here, great points.

$13 million guaranteed doesn't sound like a lot for a top 10 TE as assume we'd sign him to a three or four year deal. Yet with the Dolphins having the right to match it makes it risky as if we give him an offer we could have to wait up to 7 days before we know if we'll get him or not. I hate that as it might prevent us from getting other UFAs signed and if we lose out on Clay then we've got nothing.

I think it is worth the gamble. At the very worst, it forces Miami to pay more for him than they want to.

There are a few other TE's available in FA, but I think the Bills like the versatility Clay offers if they can get him.

I thought the same.

That might indicate whether they will make any offers to big name OG's and just pick one or 2 on draft weekend. Also the Hughes situation weighs in. Finally, do you make cap cuts like Urbik and maybe more to free up cap space ?

I think the McCoy trade is a sign that we don't expect to see Hughes back. I'm also not sure we need one of the top 2 OGs in UFA to improve this team. I don't mind cutting Urbik but his $2.5 million isn't a cap killer even if he does stick around unless we add a veteran like Blalock/Sims to start yet I don't think we will unless we move Chris Williams too. Yet again this is a guy we brought in last offseason and he's only played 3 games in a Bills uniform.

Meh...I'd rather sign a blocker in FA and grab a TE in the draft.

Roman loves H-BACK types. Delanie Walker, Bruce Miller.

I wouldn't rule out 2 tight ends or say Clay and O'Leary in the draft. For 13M guaranteed though the Phins would match that, unless they go all in on Suh.

Clay is perfect for Romans offense.

Jace Amaro was the 49th overall pick in last year's draft and produced 38 catches for 348 yards and 2 TDs in 14 games for the Jets last year, is that the production you want from our starting TE? By contrast Charles Clay put up 58 catches 605 yards and 3 TDS and Scott Chandler put up 47 catches for 497 yards and 3 TDs.

Seems like a lot of money especially with his injuries last season. Don't expect Mia to match even if we don't get suh. Besides, we still have Simms and there are a couple good prospects in the draft and some cheap vets available. At that price, you can have him

I'd prefer a guy that can block like a lineman and occasionally slip out to the middle or side for short dump-off to get the first down...move the chains. Chandler and somebody like Heuermann can handle the receiving end of it.

What ever became of Cassius after that fight? Did he ever go one to do anything after that? He's playing TE for the Phins now? If they ever do a movie about him, I hope they can get Will Smith to play him.
