What sucks is the price for Dareus keeps going up.

He's worth $100 million with $50 million guaranteed now.

That's why the smart clubs sign their top players years before FA.
Just look at Texans & Watt
Seahawks are doing something with Wilson, Sherman, Chancellor & others

Jeeze - the Treas. Dept. will have to increase fiat money printing if this continues!

Sign clay to a cap friendly offer sheet with a big upfront bonus now. Miami still has plenty of cap space but might not be inclined to pay a big upfront bonus.

we need to approach Dareus during the season and throw something similar his way, we can't afford to lose him.

Nobody here but Spiked agreed with me when I said it two years ago. We had people calling him a bust and screaming to cut him. Most of the board was in the wait and see if he gets it together camp because of his benching, and coming to camp fat, and to a lesser extent the street racing a drug bust.

On the field he's been a killer, that other **** was just noise. And why anyone took Marrone's side is still beyond me.

On the bright side, he's currently at $8 million, JJ Watt's contract has one year at $20 and the rest are at $12-$13. If Dareus gets a similar contract the additional cap hit is only $4 or $5 million. Hardly devastating. Plus we can Franchise tag him next year for about $10 million, although that would probably guarantee his eventual exit.

He was worth that the minute Gerald McCoy signed his deal last year.

They should do it ASAP
If the player in his last year under contract, he is already taking a risk playing that season (he might get injured, play poorly, etc) if the players taking that RISK usually they will also wait to hit FA so they can also get a Reward.

Watt was paid 2yrs before becoming an FA. This made sense to him: he doesn't have to wait 2yrs & no risk. It also made sense for Texans: you get to keep a HOF player who defiantly helps sell tickets. No risk of loosing him or getting outbid.

seattle is doing same thing with thirt players

It's too late for Dareus. The only deal he signs now is one at market price. No more discounts to be found. Same goes for Glenn and Bradham.

But there is still time to apply the same logic to Woods, he seems like a solid number 2. He'll be much cheaper now than when he crosses the 1000yd season (600, 700).

See also CIN - they've locked up Whitwhorth, Dunlap, Burfict, Hall, Atkins. They might lose (injury, poor recovery from same) with Atkins, Burfict, Hall, but knowing them there is injury settlement language in their contracts.

They have AJ Green, RT Andre Smith on the horizon (I'd sign Smith...maybe. Not Green. He's a marginal (at best) pattern runner, suffered lingering problems from getting cheap-shotted twice last season and has become the favorite go-to crutch of their past and present OCs).

Shady's not mad.

Suh took his talents to south beach.

Still not better then Buffalo's defense.

He was worth that before McCoy signed his deal. Many people thought it was an outlier type deal v. a market setter. The Suh deal confirms that the market for a top DT has gone into the 9 figure range.

I love this move. A disruptive locker presence on a team with a weak coach. Love it.

Wow man, what a mega deal. Instantly improves their line but at the same time they have less money for everyone else.
