$9mil per....higher than I would have liked, but not by much, and lower than what I think he could have gotten tomorrow. Glad he's coming back.

Now THAT is a great way to start off the week. Add to that the weather is FINALLY starting to cooperate...and that is what you call #winning .

I haven't seen anything yet.

I think we were at about $22.5 cap room with Shady's new deal.

I think Hughes is darn good. Good against the run and even better vs the pass. And really I think he is just about to hit his prime. I think he leads the Bills in sacks this year.

I am shocked. The Pegula effect is apparent.

Hughes is a keeper. Young, versatile and obviously wants to be a Buffalo Bill.

I think Hughes is a better FA than Suh.

In two seasons in Buffalo, Hughes has racked up 120 pressures (23 Sk, 18 Ht, 79 Hu), 13th best among all 3-4 outside linebackers and 4-3 defensive ends since the start of the 2013 season. That places him alongside the likes of Tamba Hali, Jared Allen and Elvis Dumervil in terms of total production. In terms of a rate of production he fares even better, with his 12.5 Pass Rushing Productivity (https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/pff-signature-stats/#PassRushingProductivity) rating placing him eighth among all edge defenders with at least 150 pass rushes in the last two seasons.
In 2013 Hughes played under Rex Ryan’s former defensive coordinator Mike Pettine giving him recent experience of Rex Ryan’s scheme, that familiarity should help him continue his fine performances from the last two seasons. Performances which haven’t been as a one dimensional pass rusher either. Last season his+9.7 run defense grade was eighth highest among all 4-3 defensive ends, and included a particularly impressive display (+3.0) against the Browns and Joe Thomas, which certainly caught the eye and bodes well for the Bills.

Great pass rusher, strong against the run, and young. Great deal by OBD.<iframe id="rufous-sandbox" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" style="display: none;"></iframe>

I'm glad we re-signed Hughes.

And stop making up hypothetical situations and then attempting to make an argument on your assumption to how someone else would have reacted to something that never happened. It's absurd.

My assumption of how you would have reacted is no more absurd than how you have reacted to moves the Bills have made that you responded to.

Your reaction to the entire offseason is absurd.

Wonder if Ryan being a players coach and playing with/in this defense appeals to him.

I actually wonder if we're going to start seeing a shift in Buffalo becoming more attractive to players. With everything like Rex Ryan's reputation, new and stable ownership, showing we're taking care of guys (McCoy and Hughes), and hopefully....hopefully winning more, maybe Buffalo will be a team that player don't mind going to.

But the money. Holy cow.

Great signing and very happy we got him back. Additionally, the deal is not that crazy 9 mil APY. I think we got a bargain considering Griffin signed for 42.5 last offseason and he only had 13.5 sacks the two years before he resigned with the vikes.

I love this signing. I think anyone that argues that Hughes just rode the coattails of Mario and Dareus haven't actually paid attention to his play. I think he's a lot more talented than some are willing to give him credit it for, and he should have his best years in front of him. Plus, he wasn't interested in negotiating with other teams. Buffalo is where he always wanted to be.

the play that really stood out for me was against cleveland when he fought through a hold by joe freaking thomas. got the tackle behind the line of scrimmage, stripped the ball and ran it back for the touchdown. that was ALL him. not dareus. not mario. not kyle. ALL Jerry

That play was bad ass. I remember watching it happen and a bunch of players stood around, I thought he went out of bounds or something and the TD wouldn't count.

I kinda hate replay, I almost always hold my excitement after TD's and big plays because I'm nervous they'll get overturned.

Hughes is strong against the run and pass. He gets a lot of pressure when he's not getting sacks. The front 4 is special and I'm thrilled they were able to get it taken care of.

Hughes has said he enjoyed playing with the guys on this defense & he loved playing in Buffalo.

I think the Bills fans bring something to the table as well in regards to the attraction of Buffalo.

Bills players say they love playing in front of the fans in Buffalo & players of opposing teams have said they HATE going to Buffalo to play because of the fans.

I have heard Fins players say Bills fans are giving them CRAP before they even get off the bus at the Stadium.

I still think we could have saved a bit of money and brought someone else in who would've benefited from those surroundings much in the same way he did, but at least we know he has performed in this system in the past, so there's no guesswork in terms of fit.
