MOSCOW (Reuters) -- Sergei Fedorov, who signed a five-year, $40 million contract as a free agent with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Saturday, says he only has fond memories of playing in Detroit.
"I can honestly say that 13 seasons with Detroit were the best years of my life," said Fedorov.
"That's why I do not have any bitterness leaving the city, but the Detroit fans ... I'm going to miss them the most."
Fedorov said he was disappointed not to re-sign with the Red Wings, blaming Detroit general manager Ken Holland for stalling the negotiations.
"I've really, really tried to sign with Detroit, but every time we got close, they would back off," he said.
