For those *****ing about our off season, there is a reason!

Before you complain, there are plans we aren't privy to so before you are so quick to judge think about it.

Bills in prime spot to receive 2016 compensatory draft picks

    AM ET

The NFL will announce its list of compensatory selections for the 2015 draft later this month, and the Buffalo Bills aren't likely to receive any extra picks.

That's because the Bills -- despite losing safety Jairus Byrd to the New Orleans Saints last spring -- gained more unrestricted free agents in the 2014 offseason than they lost.

The story could be different this spring.

Here is how the Bills' 2015 free-agent balance sheet has filled out to this point:

Unrestricted free-agent gains: FB Jerome Felton, QB Tyrod Taylor

Unrestricted free-agent losses: RB C.J. Spiller (Saints), TE Lee Smith (Raiders), G Erik Pears (49ers), S Da'Norris Searcy (Titans)

The Bills' signings of guard Richie Incognito and wide receiver Percy Harvin don't count against the compensatory-draft-choice formula because both players were released by their former teams.

Assuming the Bills don't add more unrestricted free agents and tip their balance sheet in favor of their gains, they could be in line for multiple 2016 compensatory draft choices.

The NFL awards those picks as high as the end of the third round. Spiller's four-year, $18 million contract and Searcy's four-year, $24 million deal could net the Bills mid-round 2016 picks if the Bills avoid signing more unrestricted free agents this spring.

A mid round comp pick is not a good reason to not sign a guy that will help the team this year!

This is your one-stop shop to keep up to date with all of the rumors and news from Buffalo Bills free agency.

Plenty of moves have been made. I'm sure there are more to come. We offered more $ for Bulaga and talk of a trade for Mathis. Quit cryin babies. Haters gonna hate!

Theoretically that is what happens when you're a good team who doesn't need FA and simply refills through the draft. Teams like Baltimore, GB, and Pittsburgh almost always seem to receive compensatory picks. We also benefit by Whaley working through trades instead of signing big name free agents.

Only the top 32 are considered for comp picks, and as of right now Searcy is the only one that has a chance of qualifying.

You honestly think this team is passing on FA's who could help this year because we might get comp picks next year?!?!? If that's the case then every single one of them should be fired on the spot.

It's one thing if they don't think a guy is a good fit or if they get outbid or if a guy just doesn't want to leave where he is, like Bulaga. It's another thing to not even try to do their jobs.

Me for one. The biggest need this off-season was QB. I resigned myself a long time ago to the reality that we weren't going to be able to fix that this off-season.

The next two biggest needs were OL and TE. And neither have been addressed. McCoy will be useless when he's facing an 8 man front the whole game. Watkins will be useless when EJ or Cassell are flat on their backs all game.

Like I said before, it's like taking an old car that barely runs and giving it rims, a new paint job and a new stereo. It looks and sounds great but it's still going to run like **** because the core problem wasn't addressed.

The core problem was addressed as well as possible.

The Bills traded for Matt Cassel.

And I watched an EJ Manuel highlight video on youtube last night.

HATERS say EJ is not accurate & his lack of accuracy can't be fixed.

Well, anyone that watches that EJ highlight video will have to admit EJ is accurate...at least often enough to fill a highlight video.

What EJ is, is inconsistent. I see no reason his inconsistency can't be fixed.

The Bills also signed Incognito & it is only March 16 today.

How about we wait until training Camp is in gear before we write off this team?

It's March 16, 2 weeks into FA, and all the best OL help has already been picked off.

Cassel is more mediocrity and if EJ's accuracy could be fixed, it already would have been. And highlight videos are fun to watch but meaningless for player evaluation, because by definition they cherry pick the good plays and ignore the bad ones. I could show you highlight reels that will make you want to bring back Losman and Edwards.

And this OL needs far more help than one guy who hasn't played in a year and a half.

And who do you think would have fixed EJ's inconsistency issues up to this point?

Marrone & his clusterfu*k of coaches?

This is the first year EJ will have had REAL NFL QUALITY Coaching.

And as I pointed out in another thread, Cassel won the starting job last year over Bridgewater but broke his foot.

I have no doubt that the QB & OL play will be BETTER than last year when the Bills had a 9-7 record.

Lmao. There is zero reason to believe the OL will be better. It's the same guys as last year plus a guy who hasn't played in a year and a half.

And for QB, EJ is still EJ. You can hope he will be better with coaching, but expecting it is just illogical. The guy has actually regressed. And Cassel has only been successful with Weiss and that other OC from the Pats. Beating out a rookie when he's been in the league so long isn't the accomplishment you are making it out to be.

                              Go ahead & laugh.

You are an idiot if you don't think Incognito will be a HUGE upgrade from last year at guard.

And the Bills drafted some OL players last year.

It is a well known fact that players IMPROVE between their rookie year & 2nd year.

There is every reason in the world to believe with BETTER coaching, scheme & play calling that the Bills offense will be BETTER than it was last year.

And I will bet you the Bills finish higher than they did last year on offense.
