If they bulk up the 2016 compensation to Clay it will be interesting how that impact the new deals for Dareus, Gilmore, Glenn and Bradham.

I read the article. Not sure the insight is that great. Kinda shallow actually.

Arictle doesn't say anything that wasn't already known. Everybody knew the Bills were waiting to see the Suh deal particulars.

And I still don't see why this guy is so great. I would much rather had kept Chandler at his salary and gotten a better QB to throw to him. It is more of the Whaley shell game. He can't get a better QB so he goes balls to the wall for receiving reaches.

Yup despite never making the Pro Bowl or having more than 759 reception yards in a year.

It is all about potential with Clay.

Tyler Myers had that too.

759 yards is pretty good considering all the underthrown balls to Wallace on the outside.

Yeah, I'm hoping we add him given the lack of options on our bench right now.....but I'm fairly certain we're going to overpay. I think that's the sentiment the Phins are expressing - they'd like to keep him but don't think he's worth even the transition tag number.

Well, obviously the Fins thought Clay was worth the transition tag number or they would not have tagged him

I am probably in the minority here, but I'm all over Clay!! I am totally drinking the Kool-aid!! I think he's Jerry Hughes part 2, in that, he's a guy we have scouted, and have analytic data on him that supports our scouting. Hughes was a guy we stole from Indy for Sheppard. Not that many thought that much about the deal at that time (including me) but we sure do look good now. Was that a lucky deal? Maybe, but I think our scouting & analytics group played in minor to significant role in allowing that trade to happen.

I truly believe Clay is the same "lightning in a bottle" player. Phenomenal athlete, young, multi-dimensional, and probably hasn't even scratched the surface of his prime yet. I could be wrong, but I love Charles Clay, have since college when he steamrolled my ECU Pirates everytime we played him.

I will keep on hitting refresh on my twitter till I see he's ours....

Not criticizing you for posting it. Just agreeing with the other poster who kind of alluded to that being a "vanilla" take on the subject.

You realize Jacoby Jones made that list in 2013 and Jimmy Graham, Calais Campbell, Muhammad Wilkserson, and Eric Weddle didn't?

The problem for Buffalo is that Clay WANTS to stay in Miami. And with no State Income tax in Florida he get's 13.5% better $$$ off the bat. I have been to Buffalo, and the money would have to be SICK for me to even consider going there. Think about it, what would you do if you were him? Clay is a young rich NFL star living in Miami with 85 degree temps, mojitos and models to go to Buffalo which is really an armpit of a city that has nothing to offer him off the field. If you have ever had to go to Buffalo you know what I am talking about. Unless Clay is in the minority who prefers long dark dreary winters, several feet of snow, sleet and no social scene whatsoever, why would he leave sunny South Florida for THAT. Who knows maybe he does prefer parkas to bikinis for 13% less money? But I doubt it

None of you who have commented under me are wrong, This is simply paying a player for what he might become. If you look at his numbers, he did very well receiving passes from Ryan Tannehill. That is not going to happen in Buffalo. The transition tag was right, he was not worth more than the 7.07 Million. They certainly wanted to keep one of their own on a long term deal for less per. Rex Ryan will bury Buffalo in bad contracts. I know I am not the only one saying it. The reason Rex is in Buffalo is to sell tickets, not a because he wins, because it is like a circus.Let them overpay for Clay. We will pay a little to much for the right players like Suh. Go Phins for once I am proud of every move. Especially ditching a guy who asks to be benched and a guy who speaks for that guy in the locker room. I could go on. I love what Tannenbaum (brains behind anything the Jets did right) and Hickey are doing !

Probably whoever winds up under center. He's a very QB friendly target as well as good YAC guy.

To the Fins fans that commented, maybe Clay wanted to go to a team with a PASSIONATE fan base that will fill the stadium, after playing in a half empty stadium in Miami.
