All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
When did Whaley say that?
Whaley said that Spikes is not a 3-down player in Rex's defense. But he did not say that Spikes is no fit in general. Or did I miss that?
Dude has an edge. I love how tough he plays and even though he is not a versatile player he adds a bit extra to the LBer depth. If he wants to stay, maybe he will come for less money?
Spikes was integral in both the locker room and the field. He brought a toughness to the field that had a trickle-down effect on the rest of the defense. I'd love to have him back stuffing the run.
I really like Spikes, even though I hated him when he played for New England. I'd like him to come back, even if he is only a 2 down player. The guy seemed to be a very good motivator and looked like he was genuinely happy to be playing here.

I wouldn't rule out Spikes returning. He may want to look for a bigger role since he only played about 35-40% of the snaps, but he was probably looking for the same thing last year too. If he signed late last year because teams weren't that interested, I don't know what would be different this year. If he's looking at a limited role no matter where he goes, then he might as well come back to the team he loves playing for.
I think the D will be fine without him, but it would be nice to have the influence of his attitude and toughness.
LOL, I saw an interview with Doug Whaley where he said that Spikes is his favorite player.
Pretty much said that exact thing.
I do not doubt that wants Spikes back, and I can see that happening once Spikes realizes that he overestimated his value in the open market and nobody really sees him as a 3-down linebacker.
He probably wants a bigger role and more money than the Bills have offered, which is natural.
But if he doesn't get that better offer, I would love to see him back as a 2 down run stuffing beast and defensive leader. I like what he brings.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
