Dolphins | Seau Will Be Used in Blitzing Situations - from www.KFFL.com
      Mon, 21 Jul 2003 07:36:19 -0700

The Miami Herald reports Miami Dolphins LB Junior Seau will be used in blitzing situations a lot throughout the season, according to head coach Dave Wannstedt. "Like with Junior Seau. We normally haven't been a big blitz defense, but . . . it's no secret that he's one of the best pass-rushing linebackers in the league," Wannstedt said. "So we'll find ways, maybe three or four times a game, to use him that way."

            Dolphins face possible holdouts

            Six draft picks remain unsigned
The Dolphins edged a little closer to getting their draft picks signed but also got closer to possible holdouts by their top three picks after an unusual day of talks Monday.

The Dolphins reached an agreement with seventh-round pick Davern Williams, a defensive tackle, on a three-year deal. That reduced the number of draft picks who haven't agreed to terms to six as the team prepares to open training camp Friday.

              Miami signs rookie DT

DAVIE -- With players scheduled to report to training camp Thursday, the Dolphins lowered their number of unsigned draft picks to six Monday by reaching a three-year agreement with defensive tackle Davern Williams.

Williams, the team's seventh-round pick, No. 248 overall, joined fifth-rounder Donald Lee and sixth-rounder Corey Jenkins among the signed rookies. Linebacker Eddie Moore, left tackle Wade Smith, guard Taylor Whitley, wide receiver J.R. Tolver, tackle Tim Provost and safety Yeremiah Bell are unsigned, but the team is hopeful it can reach deals before the first practice Friday.

"I really doubt it will come to that, but we have some work to do," Rosenhaus said.
