DE or LB?

Mario Williams just turned 30 in January. He's 6'8, 292 lbs and I think he should stay at defensive end.

But Super Mario was quoted recently saying that he's looking forward to moving back to linebacker.

"I look forward to it," he said. "So hopefully if (Ryan) hears this, this is my call-in: Will Linebacker. So hopefully it works out."

Sorry, Mario. Hopefully that doesn't work out and you stay at defensive end where you had your best season last year.

With all the situational formations used on both sides of the ball these days, Williams will line up at DE, LB, probably even at DT time to time. I suspect how they play Hughes will drive how they position Williams.

I think that teams that stick (more or less) to "traditional" 3-4 or 4-3 DL sets do so because the talents of their DL dictate so.

Yeah he's strictly an edge rusher, which is practically a position itself.

He apparently plays rover in Rex Ryan's defense.

He just stands around in random places doing nothing half the time because there is nothing for him to actually do with the play call.
