A quick look at the upcoming NHL draft.....

The Sabres have 3 draft picks in the top 31 picks: 1st or 2nd, ~20 & 31 & then ~53 (from the Islanders as our 4th pick). I'm pretty stoked about the draft, our 1st or 2nd pick should start immediately. I also think with the proper scouting, we could find at least one other starter in the mix. Add in a few FA's and we look to be fairly loaded for a major improvement (Kane alone should help us big time).

Don't the Jets get our 3rd 1st rounder?

I believe it's the Caps pick -1st in round 3.

I misunderstood, here's the trade that brought Kane here, how has Bogosian worked out??

          • Anaheim to Arizona: n/a
          • Buffalo to Winnipeg: 1st Rnd ('15)
          • Buffalo to Winnipeg: Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux
          • Winnipeg to Buffalo: Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian, Jason Kasdorf

Kane was the key here if he plays well. If he gets on a good line, I'd look for him to get 25 goals or more & 25 assists.

Whoever the Sabres take with their 2nd pick in the 1st round 95% sure they wont be in the NHL in 2015-2016

they are trading the NYI pick too. I guarantee that. Grigs and/or Zadorov are gone too

I can see Grigorenko gone. Not sure about Zadorov. Don't want to be like Bruins and trade a young player(Seguin) that needs to mature a little bit but overall a good kid loaded with talent and then have that player come back and bite them.

I agree that I would be surprised if the Sanres hold both the Islanders and Sabres second rounder on draft day.

I think it's likely our 2nd first rounder (Isles pick) and Grigerenko are going to be traded to the Avalanche for ROR.

If neither the Yotes or us win the lottery. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Reinhart traded to the Yotes for the 3rd overall pick and something else. This trade would reunite Samson with his linemate from the WJCs. Just a hunch.

If that happens I could see us selecting Mitch Marner to play along side Evander Kane and Jack Eichel.

I would love having Eichel (Kane/Marner), ROR (Moulson/Ennis), Girgensons (Foligno) and Larson (Gionta) as our lineup!

if the isles are a quick exit out, the pick should be a mid first rounder that could land us someone like konecney. i like that GMTM is aggressive with this rebuild. i dont like the idea of planning this draft around mceichel and slinging picks around after that, like the ricky williams draft. im fine with trading a few, but lets continue this rebuild the right way.

personally, i wouldnt mind if the sabres traded some of their wealth of middle range prospects, like compher or someone like that. someone with value and good potential, but could be expendable due to the high volume of centers the sabres have.

i wouldnt move reinhart, i love the idea of eichel and him going 1-2. thats a combo that would be very tough to defend, like drury and briere was.

same thing with zad. i wouldnt move him either. he had his struggles, but he wasnt completely lost as a 19 year old. as he continues to refine his game and develop, hes going to prove extremely valuable.
