Guess I was wrong. Now the question is who replaces him?

I'll take one Babcock please.

Reading that article and Tim Murray saying it takes time to win tells me we might not be looking for a guy who has to win now. I know he was mentioned earlier this season and with the way the Senators finished wouldn't be shocked if we see Luke Richardson behind the bench to develop our young guys.

Nolan was hired to be the fall guy but on the other hand, Nolan was unemployable in any real NHL head coaching job and he had to know that this job was temporary.

Besides he will get paid 3 & 1/2 years for a job he only did for 1 & 1/2 years.

BUF GM Tim Murray has history with Babcock dating back to days in ANA. Sabre owner Terry Pegula has lot of $ and not likely to be outbid.

Presser going on now with GM Tim Murray.

Tim first compliments Ted Nolan and the staff for showing up every day and working hard, and that Nolan was a good man. However, Murray then adds that he came to the conclusion that a change may help us improve.

Murray: Nolan was very professional about the whole matter.

Babcock would be awesome, he'd help bring in the best FA & raise the bar big time. No idea why anyone would want him, we'd be winners pretty quick.

Made me angry. Imho, the final rancid cherry on a disgusting crap cake of classless. After dorking him over his first time here, they rehire him, set him up to fail, and reward his doing as they wanted and intended by dorking him again.

What a junk, classless organization the Pegulas have made for themselves. Remembering him getting choked up at seeing Perreault, I wonder what Perreault thinks of him these days or if Pegula could even look him in the eye.

Oh yeah, it will all pay off in 2016 or 2017 or 2018 or.....

I'd like to see how many of you would stay employed when you're publicly taking shots at your boss all the time.

The guy on the bench working with the players, we had a chance during the season when we were about 5 points from a playoff spot. The team finished terribly, so there's no good excuses.

The team also had a a month when things did click. The Sabres went on a 10-3 run, then Meyers / Gionta got hurt. No points at all in Jan 2015, so it's all over but the shouting.

i mean seriously, wtf could anybody expect? they obviously were in full tank mode and had a roster very thin on nhl-ready talent. what did anybody expect to happen?

nolan was always going to be the interim coach. thats fine. but lets not pretend like he screwed these past two seasons up

Balderdash. Last place two years in a row. No matter what you can't keep your job after this type of showing.

I feel like nolan getting the job in the first place was simply a gift to him, and nothing more.

That said, given the resources he had, he did a pretty good job. Golf clap for teddy. He may have deserved better, but did he deserve the job in the first place? I'll hang up and listen.

Saw this coming. Think we all did. I'll reserve judgment until after Murray names the replacement, but the fact remains The Ted was setup to fail and deserved a better fate. He did an admirable job, considering the **** sandwich he was handed, from day one.

No need to reserve anything..Nolan was terrible. He still thought he was in Latvia the way he coached or 1997. "compete...compete....compete...out the door...."

No one would do better with Brian Gionta as your captain and Tyler Ennis as your scorer.

WGR reports that Murray is going to let the new coach decide on that. He said he would recommend the new coach interview Irbe. That's as far as he would go.

Good. I don't like it when GM's force assistants on HC's.
