    Miller is riding the pine

Sabres dodged a bullet there and got value out of him, thanks to Tim. Credit given where due.

As much as I love miller, his game is in decline. Sabres got a good trade for him, and moved him at the right time.

He was injured until the playoffs only getting in one game. He's riding the pine because he hasn't been playing. Look up longest shutout streak of the year and see who you get. He is def not the Miller of 2010 but he is better than what you currently have on the roster.

Well, that I wouldn't debate. I'd still take miller, but as a long term option, no.

No of course not but to say he is not playing because he is a bad player now is false.

I don't believe that is the reason, but I did notice his decline

              They all decline eventually.

Yeah, they do. At 34, miller was expected to decline. Hence why the sabres let him go.

My understanding is he declined an extension thus forcing the Sabres to trade him.

from my understanding, he was open to the idea, and some in the front office wanted to keep him, others wanted a COMPLETE rebuild. but the deadline approached and the sabres made a call. they made the right one.

but its not like the trade was a complete surprise (regardless of his reaction), there was chatter of a trade all season. so if miller really wanted to stay, and i suspect he didnt, he would made some chatter about it. either way, the sabres made the complete right move, especially over letting him walk.

this was all i could find. maybe i missed something?

That is very different than "he was expected to decline and that's why they let him go" (paraphrasing)

I'm not sure miller was ever in the sabres plans to begin with. Once they decided to tear it down, I got the feeling that meant miller as well. And miller was fine with that as well. That's the impression I get. It was a mutual split.

I mean, it doesn't make much sense keeping a 34 year old goalie during a complete rebuild. As much as I love miller.

We got good value out of Miller during a time of transition, age or injury usually sits goalies.

Played well last night. Probably starts game 5.
