I wouldn't mind if a couple of TEs go off the board soon as well so we don't do something stupid by drafting one.

So much for Toby Gerhardt being a bell cow back ever for the Jags.

Why would drafting a TE be stupid?

We will have more invested in the one or two TE position than we have in the five minimum OL position.

Passing to a TE is meaningless if our OL is a sieve.

They aren't meaning to pass to anyone you lunatic. They just want TE's to draw coverage to open run gaps so the OL has less people to worry about.

Almost seems to me the Jets are a little behind us in getting weapons to try and salvage a weak QB though.

BillsImpossible

Jerry Sullivan wrote a good article today. Every year since 1998 the Bills new head coach has drafted on their own side of the ball.

Williams - defense, Mularkey - offense, Jauron - defense, Gailey - offense, etc.

If the trend holds true, the Bills will be drafting defense at pick 50.

Either guy, doesn't matter. If the Bills pick a QB at 50 with Jim Kelly at the podium announcing it, that would be sending a message I think fans would be cool with. Go for it. Do it! I'd rather draft a QB at 50 than trade a crap ton of draft picks to San Diego for Rivers. Trading for Rivers would remind me of the Bills trading for Bledsoe.

Rexy has some say.

it is a bit of a concern that scouts and even opposing coaches have commented on Darby's toughness, but he doesn't have very many missed or broken tackles on his docket and his cover skills should be prioritized over his run support regardless. He clearly has starter's ability at the position.

Lock down guy to replace Leodis in 2016. Ryan has no Idzik over him.

Yeah. If you've been one of the best since highschool. And you keep being one of the best in college. There's a pretty good chance you're a good football player.

Add in playing at a big school in a top conference, and some sign of leadership like being a captain... It's a safe way to draft.

We took 3 OL linemen last year. plus Incognito our line will be fine...

"The 5th and 7th gem we got last year is going to be fine"

Haven't heard that before in the past 15 years.

Pretty much.

I will say this....I watched the East-West Shrine game, the guy was moving people

You don't see linemen being isolated on a replay, but they kept coming back to him.

This is his scouting report from nfldraftcountdown.com:

Analysis
Strengths Has power in his bulky upper body to bury his down-blocks. Features power in his hands to redirect. Has enough straight-line movement to pull on short side with reasonable effectiveness. Has a decent punch. Gets arm extension and can mirror in pass pro. Has initial fight and willingness to fight to reestablish his hands. Is able to alternate guard spots in-game.

Weaknesses Tight throughout his lower body and plays with poor leverage. Gives ground to power. Slow feet. Tries to reach and lunge rather than sliding feet into position. Waist-bender who will panic when beaten. Doesn't bring his feet with him in running game. Shoes stay glued to the grass. Gets lost on the second level. His secondary motor is shaky. Leaky pass protection for an interior lineman. Doesn't play with powerful grip.

Draft Projection Round 3 or 4

NFL Comparison Alvin Bailey

Bottom Line Miller isn't the most nimble athlete at the guard position and he will be limited by scheme fit, but the pure power in his upper body and his hands have scouts excited and there is a belief that he will be better as a pro than he was in college.

2nd round, 5th round, 7th round and did not play for the past 18+ months.

The commitment is scary.
All 3 will end up being legit starters, Kujo is still younger than a lot of guys drafted today

What in our recent history of OL selection and development makes you think that?

If you said the same about LBs, I might take the leap of faith.

Not for OL.

Not in Buffalo.

Oh I am all for running the ball but this OL does not have the talent to do that successfully.

Hopefully play calling will make a bad OL into an average OL.

Yeah but Spiked, running games in power blocking schemes are the best way to use young OL's developing. Don't give them long developing pass protections. Plow.

Last year they did stupid across the field zone blocks. That was not indicative.

East-West Shrine standouts- NFL Draft Scout - CBS Sports

John Miller, OG, Louisville (6-3, 315):
Mike Mayock pointed out Miller several times on the telecast and he was right in doing so, as the powerful drive blocker simply blasted defenders off the line throughout much of the game. Miller has the relative low center of gravity and thick base that scouts look for in interior lineman and has long enough arms (33"). In pass protection, he showed balance and reasonably light feet to mirror, as well as strong hands to latch and control. He also demonstrated the core flexibility and power to anchor against the bull rush.

So he hits late, takes shots to the head, drops INT's, and he doesn't get called for obvious PI's ....

Hopefully he improves a lot over the summer.

I can
you play in a league now that spreads the **** out of the field with wide outs, and is trending towards speeding it up. You can't cover receivers with LB's..... EVERY team loads up on corners, and we're in a position to where we're two injuries away from being razor think back there.

I don't love or hate the pick because i haven't seen it pan out yet. However, it makes sense and many were saying that us taking Darby there was a real possibility.

Darby going to play FS??

Interesting thought, although I would prefer somebody with better ball skills and a little more size to plug in there.

I don't care if he is 'only' a second rounder, if he doesn't turn into the second coming of Revis it wasn't a good pick. I'll give him a chance to prove he can play but would have preferred any of the three guys taken immediately after our pick (Orchard, Phillips, Fisher). I like the Miller pick, at least there is room in his position group for him to compete and contribute right out of the box.

IMO you use a second to replace a McKelvin, Graham or Robey...not a Ron Brooks. Brooks can be replaced today.

This is my point. If we get into a position to where we're forced to start Ron Brooks, we're in trouble. Furthermore, some of these corners on the roster right now might not be what this staff likes.

That's a little much, YR. If he contributed as much as Corey Graham has, I would be happy. That would make me forget Ron Brooks and my disappointment there.

And speaking of Graham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corey_Graham), don't forget he was a 5th round draftee of the Chicago Bears in 2007. Pick #168.

So good players are still out there.
