    Chris Stewart

Should the Sabres consider making Stewart a 1 year $4 million offer to play on the first line with Kane and Eichel?

why would he want to be a rental again. and not just for the sabres. he's at that point where he needs a big payday and longer term. he played ok for minny in playoffs.

      Stewart is such an underachiever.

Some team will give a multi-year contract at close to $5M per and will be severely disappointed.

Soderberg would be a much better value and more productive.

Agreed that he's an underachiever and consistency is an issue... that's why I think he's going to find it incredibly difficult to find anyone willing to give him $5 million per on a multi-year deal.

putting him with Eichel and Kane on another prove it contract might be attractive to Stewart because he's going to have some real linemates all of who create space on their own:

Stewart is not 1st line material.

Two black guys on the same line. Has that ever happened?

I don't know. I like the idea, beats bringing Stafford back. But would he want to come back? He wasnt happy in buffalo, so I'm not sure he would even be willing. I can't imagine teams are lining up for him.

i would rather take less on a term basis than to risk it with a one year deal hoping that i have a breakout year.

Why in the world would that be the only alternative move possible?

because the free agent market is very thin, and hes like the second or third best RW option.

I like the idea of trading back into the top 5 for Marner or top 10 for Rantenen and then signing Stewart on a "prove-it" year long contract.

If Stewart can't make it work with Eichel and Kane opposite then he's not going to make it.

I personally like watching him play (when he's on), but you can't expect him to be "the guy" on a line.

                        He's (Stafford) garbage.
