Cutting Chris Williams and signing Mathis would be a huge upgrade.

He is 33 years old so nothing more than a 2 year contract makes sense.

It would probably take $5M a year with almost all of it guaranteed.

Let Incognito and Miller fight for the remaining Guard position.

And he asks for a lot of money. He wanted a new contract from the Eagles, although he was well compensated. Although this might have been only because he hates Kelly.

Mathis did want a new contract and was making $5.5M this year and $6M the following year, but perhaps it wasn't the amount so much as that none of it was guaranteed. Perhaps $10M over the same 2 years would be enough if it was all guaranteed.

This guy is currently rated as one of the best Guards in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl each of the last 2 years.

He would be worth moving some money around including cutting Chris Williams.

He was rated as the top run blocking Guard last year and we want to run the ball.
