View Full Version : If you could guarantee that any 5 players would not get injured this season, which 5

...would it be? Why?

I'll say:

Spikes, since he'll be the biggest single impact player on D IMO. Plus he's the only outstanding LB and the toughest one to replace.

Moulds, since w/o him, our air game drops several notches.

Pat Williams since he's the biggest factor on the DL.

Schobel, not b/c he's stellar, but b/c w/o him we'd really be hurtin'.

Drew, b/c...

Nah, jk! :D

Reuben Brown, again, not b/c I think he's as good as those who continually vote him to the PB, but b/c he'd be the most difficult to replace on our interior line, and the biggest player for whom the marginal difference between him and the backup would be the greatest. We could weather an injury to MW or JJ w/ Price for a while, IMO.

I'd have to go with Travis Henry, Takeo Spikes, Drew Bledsoe, Nate Clements and Brian Moorman

Why?

Moorman. Interesting.

I picked all defense. If our D is as good as it can be this year, we'll need it to stay healthy. If our D stays healthy and plays great, we could even endure the loss of a Henry or Bledsoe. But without a good D, the offense will not be able to get it done consistently....just look at last year.

BTW, good thread, wys. ;)

1. Drew - AVP just can't do what he does
2. Adams - yes, I think he'll make that big an impact overall
3. Moulds - Big-Plays-R-Us
4. Spikes - Forgive me, London, he's the best backer on the team
5. Gash - Maybe I'm giving him too much credit but he's a proven vet who knows how to make the key plays that win games. Whether he starts or not, he will play and you just can't lead like that as effectively in street clothes.

with a friend of mine during a 1 hour drive. Although it was 10 guys, not five.

I'd go with:

Bledsoe (the dropoff would be deadly to this team's chances)
Travis (With WM not ready, the dropoff would be palpable)
EMoulds (obviously)
Sam Adams (I don't think Pat Williams *gets* hurt)
Nate Clements

*spikes has never missed a game
*fletch is always healthy

I'd like to see all of our OLinemen stay healthy, but you said 5 guys. Those are mine.

For Miami:
1. Ricky Williams.. Most valuable player on the team, Top 2-3 RB in NFL, if not the best..
2. Jason Taylor.. TOP 2 DE in NFL enough said..
3. Mark Dixon.. Miami would then need to start a rookie 3rd rounder at LT
4. Chris Chambers.. Another Big play WR that is poised for a breakout year, superior to any WR on Miami roster..
5. Junior Seau.. Miami would have to play rookie 2nd rounder Eddie Moore

These IMO are Miami most valuable players.. The rest could be replaced with capable starters.. If Zach got injured, Seau play MLB and Eddie/Greenwood play outside.. I Madison or Surtain got injured, Buckley fills in.. If Marion is injured, Freeman plays his natural position (FS) and Sammy stays at SS.. Fiedler could be replaced by Griese.. McMike replaced by Don Lee.. Timbo or Chester replaced by Zgonina.. That was my reasoning...

Moorman ? Are you joking. He's a punter. You could pick a guy off the street and get the job done. If we have to lose somebody to injury lets hope it is the punter/kicker first.

Bledsoe-passing game would suffer if he gets hurt and teams will start showing 8 guys upfront.

Moulds-see above

Teague-no depth at center (a rookie)

TKO-no experienced weak side LB

Lindell-then we'll have to go through a season like 2001 :scared: but i guess this one applies to every other team.

bledsoe-big drop off
spikes-see TypicalBill's response
jennings-can play more than one spot on the OL
PW-this guy is a handful for ANY offensive lineman-a monster
schobel-we have enough question marks at DE.

5. Takeo Spikes - He is the new superstar of the defense and without Spikes in there the other teams will focus on Posey and Fletcher more.
4. Pat Williams - If we lose the anchor of the defense, the team is in trouble.
3. Eric Moulds - Moulds is the only major threat the Bills have at WR.
2. London Fletcher - This season Fletcher will be the leader of the unit. With the D help he will be a major factor.
1. Drew Bledsoe - If Drew goes down, so do the Bills

I'll second this list. I'm not that concerned about Travis Henry. I think Olandis Gary is just fine as a backup.

I see a lot of people are overlooking Posey. I think his success as a strong side pass rusher is key to any turnaround from the defense. If he does well, we're in good shape. If not, and we can't find a good rusher from the strong side, we could be looking at a lot of the same problems we had last season. Along with Josh Reed on the offense, he's one of the players I'll be watching closely and rooting hard for.

I'm not forgetting them but IMO if we lose these players were in a world of hurt with or without posey and reed.
