Bucky Brooks Ranks Greg Roman the NFL's 6th Best Offensive Coordinator

    6) Greg Roman, Buffalo Bills

Despite the San Francisco 49ers' offensive implosion during Roman's final season with the team, the crafty play-caller deserves to be mentioned among the NFL's best offensive minds. Roman helped the49ers reach the NFC Championship Game three straight seasons, relying on a powerful rushing attack and savvy playmaking from the quarterback position. His creative scheming and clever deployment of multiple tight ends were things of beauty. Yet, it was Roman's ability to coax championship-level performances out of Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick that earned him high marks in the NFL coaching community. If he solves the Bills' quarterback dilemma in training camp, Roman could be the hottest head-coaching candidate in the league.

Is Josh McDaniels' success with the Patriots born of his own brilliance -- or the fact that Tom Brady is his quarterback? Bucky Brooks lists the top 10 offensive coordinators in the NFL.

Bucky Brooks is an idiot. Norv Turner? Todd Haley?

    Josh ****ing McDaniels?

I'd hire #10 over all those guys.

The same Tom Clements who that people hated with the Bills under Jauron? Personally I think Turner and Haley are great picks, Especially Turner as he seems to do well wherever he goes. He wasn't a great HC but you gotta give him credit with the Cowboys, Chargers and even last year the success he had with a rookie QB in Minnesota. Haley while not a favorite of mine has made BIG Ben a better passing QB since joining the Steelers and had some marginal success in KC prior to that. McDaniels is hit and miss as think he was a great OC with New England he also had some success in St Louis and but I'm not a fan. To me the more questionable picks are Roman, Koetter and Hamilton.

If you don't know, Spartacus has long had a man-crush on Clements. It resurfaces almost as often as his predilection for JP Losman.

Tom Clements worked under Mularkey... Steve Fairchild was Jaurons OC in 2006 and 2007

Roman will get a chance to prove his ranking this year.

Whoops. Even so nobody liked Clements when he was here. Did he get thrown out with the bathwater? Sure but having Aaron Rodgers certainly will help make anyone's resume look good.

We've had Tom Clements. His success only comes from Aaron Rodgers.

Those three are excellent OCs and terrible Head Coaches. Walking examples of the Peter Principle.

Funny that we can be out another coordinator after only one season if our offense plays well.

Even our DC will be a candidate to leave.

Yeah I remember back on the range you, SweetLee8 3PlayaWha?, and I pimped Tom Clements like it was going out of style.

Historically, he's a miracle worker with QB's. His work with Elvis Grbac, Kordell Stewart, and Tommy Maddox was phenomenal. And what needs to be said about Aaron Rodgers?

It's a bummer Clements got hamstrung with Dwu Blumbo and JP Losman during his stint in Buffalo.

Even miracle workers have their limits -- although Blumbo did have an impressive run toward the end of 2004 until his disastrous season finale vs the Steelers' third stringers.

                      That one still stings.

Well, maybe we can get Pettine back for DC.

I doubt he lasts more than this season in Cleveland.

Highly doubt he would ever want to work under Rex again. He was waiting in NY to get out so he could make a name for himself.

If he is let go from Cleveland chances are he goes somewhere where he can cement his own reputation.

Didn't he do that in Buffalo & Cleveland?

He may end up following a similar path of Jim Schwartz. But doubt he would work under Rex again. He needed separation to make his name.
