As per TSN's Bob McKenzie. John Vogl of the News adds that Hodgson will be bought out of his contract.

Nobody is claiming him and paying #4+ million per year for the next 4 years when they can probably sign him as AN UFA for half of that or less

What a waste. He was always a defensive liability, but when we first got him he showed flashes on O and I thought he might actually benefit from the change of scenery. Clearly that didn't happen.

He's not Leino useless and he'll be a third liner who can jump up to 2nd if there is an injury. Just glad we won't be paying him $4 mill a year to do it.

I was sitting on the sports bar across from the HHOF when Coho was sabred. Some loudmouth Canuck was all twisted. So I can agree, Leaflets want him.

Thats great that the fans and media want him. The question really is does Babcock and ownership want him??
Certainly not at 4.5M a year, so they can wait and make an offer sheet with several escalators based on performance.

they arent going to claim him, no. a team will snatch him up during free agency, and from the sounds of it, toronto might be one of the team interested. but i was kinda surprised to see so many fans of the leafs not just want him, but flat out demand it. like hes a superstar that is being overlooked.

Today was the last day to make this move or they were stuck with his contract.

The rebuild continues. Out with all the Darcy floaters.

I can't imagine Shanhan picking him up. Then again he selected Marner instead of Provorov

shoulda traded him to vancouver for a disappointing fourth line winger

Murray "it wasn't the player...it was how the contract was made up...I liked Cody, If I were here as GM at the time the deal was being made I would have done the deal differently mabe given Cody a bridge deal, not given him 6 yrs. @ 27M"

didnt they sorta give him that money bc they had to give it to somebody, knowing full well that unless he made some kind of big jump in his play they were most likely to eat it like they are doing right now

I'm sad to see him go as think CoHo is a top 6 if he's scoring but obviously he wasn't and that's why we let him go. I wouldn't be shocked him to latch on somewhere else and be a 20 goal scorer.

no. coho had a good rookie year, and the lockout shortened season, he played VERY well. then he got the contract. followed by a team leading effort the year after. the theory was he was going to be a top 6 forward at worst, and possibly a first line center for a very long time.

then last year happened.

people still think he can become a top 6 forward again. he has great vision and good talent. but it wont be in buffalo.

He just totally smack talked one of his fellow NHL executives without a care in the world.

right or wrong he puts it all out there.

He was, however, absolutely correct in what he said. Regier ruined the Sabres with crap like that.

No doubt... how asshats like Reiger even get and keep GM jobs is beyond me.
