meh. Always thought he was overrated. He did put up around 60 pts the last few though.

The bigger concern to me is how much money did the Blues save against the cap, it doesn't look like much as appears only around 750k which isn't much. As to me with the Sabres being around $13 million under the cap I'd sign Tarasenko to an offer sheet that cause up to give a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick. As it wouldn't make him the highest player on the roster and still give us some cap room to play with if re-sign Reilly and a UFA Dman.

I read about this trade. I don't get it. Can somebody explain why these teams made this trade? As stated above, production, age and salary was fairly similar for the two players. The principles both play right wing. The Blues don't seem to be saving much money.

I thought Oshie was a key player on that squad and the fans liked him?

The St. Louis Blues have traded T.J. Oshie to the Washington Capitals for Troy Brouwer, Pheonix Copley and a 2016 3rd round pick.

The 28-year old Oshie was drafted 24th overall in the first round of the 2005 draft by the Blues. He carries a $4.175 million cap hit for another two years.

The 29-year old Brouwer was drafted 214th overall in the seventh round of the 2004 draft by the Blackhawks. He carries a $3,666,667 cap hit. He’ll be a UFA at the end of next season.

The 23-year old Copley was undrafted and carries a $705,000 if in the NHL.
