Bring back Quebec and jettison Detroit out of the East, move them back to the West make the division sort of like the old Adams division.

Buffalo
Boston
Toronto
Montreal
Ottawa
Florida
Tampa Bay
*Quebec*

There were 3 interested parties in Seattle rumoured to possibly putting in a bid.

Now there are two.

rumored to possibly. until someone steps up, it doesnt look like its going to happen, especially with the arena situation in flux.

We don't need more teams. We need teams in the right places. Florida, Arizona, Nashville, Carolina have virtually zero support. Even Dallas struggles. Move Florida to Seattle and Az to Quebec then we will see what happens.

The key is to get a team and then if you bankrupt it, Betman will step in the save the team.

Betman will not let a team move.

Then no matter what your history is as a team, fans have short memories so that when you win in your 48th year, they will forget the previous 47 years.

Didn't atlanta just move? Like 4 years ago?

For the second time. The Flames were originally from there. Gary had no choice there.

So yes, teams do move.

If Quebec gets approved, which team do you guys think goes to the west? My money is on CBJ.

i recall a few years ago, the NHL brass was talking about how Columbus cant survive out west, financially. if they remained in the west, it would doom the team. so, because of that, i think its detroit.

Might be. I thought they would want to keep more of the original six members together. Then you probably put Vegas and Colorado into the Pacific and Det or CBJ in the central.

I remember Detroit was desperately trying to get in the Eastern Conference during the last round of re-alignment over their travel schedule and traditional rivalries. I doubt they'd be eager to return.

They were. But detroit thrived out west before. I mean, I guess we could go 17-15...

I can't imagine that would happen. They set up the divisions with I think the plan of Vegas and Seattle getting a team. They have to go 16 a side.

The NHL has no real way to balance the scales geographically because they are a regional sport. The NFL and MLB don't even try, they just have overlapping conferences. The NBA has many more successful southern and western franchises.

I dunno, maybe have three conferences 11-11-10, and have the top 2 from each and 2 wildcards as the playoffs?

You think they would do that over moving 1 team?

The most obvious thing, to me, is to move detroit west. Since they are the most western east team

I can agree completely with Arizona & Florida. Possibly Carolina. Nashville, not so much.

Also, don't count out Kansas City in the relocation mix either. It would bring the I-70 War into a new dimension(St. Louis & KC already do battle in the NFL and MLB...why not the NHL?).

No, of course they won't. As it stands though, The western conference has a much worse travel schedule and there's no way they can balance that.

Yeah, that's probably what will happen but not without a fight.

Tougher travel sched it might be but as long as the west keeps winning cups, that argument is moot.

Well, they moved east in 1998. Made the conference finals their first year. Lost to the sabres :)

The NHL is overplaying its hand with regards to stadium funding, and cities are calling their bluff.
