We already have enough servers standing around at camp.
He doesn't fit at all.

Opposing teams faced 3rd & long many times because of Spikes play last year.
I would love to have him back.

I would love to have Spikes back if we were still running Schwartz's Wide9, or even a 34 base, but if (as Mace's thread alludes to, and still a BIG if) the defense is going to be more of a 46 I don't think he fits as well.

yeah they really need the six to all be able to cover or rush. it would be tougher to scheme him into this defense. i liked him a lot more than i thought i would when they signed him, but he doesnt appear to be a fit. plus hit and run is pretty serious, i think he might have to sit a year before anybody gives him another shot

I think Spikes could be the Bills David Harris on the first two downs.

He never played in a Ryan-ish defense, main thing Harris has going for him is experience in a Ryan-ish defense. Strictly a 2 down standard 4-3 guy. Like from what I understand, Brown and Bradham are intended to be 3 down lb's. I don't think Spikes wants to be veteran depth this young, rightfully so.

I think that Spikes will have to focus on what he can get rather than what he wants at this point.

Someone will inevitably lose a run stuffer to injury through preseason though and roll the bones on him.

I just don't understand the concept of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

No he couldn't have. We didn't offer him a contract if I recall correctly.

I think Spikes was looking to be a 3 down player & paid as such.
The Bills told him that would not be the case in Buffalo & told him to see what was out there.
