    Buascaglia: Scrimmage Observations

    1) EJ impresses Rex, Taylor not far behind
    - Of the four quarterbacks, the only player to lead his team successfully to the end zone was EJ Manuel. His two highlights: a 43-yard pass over the middle to Chris Hogan, and then a 19-yard touchdown throw to Bryce Brown after the play broke down on third down. Rex Ryan made a comment after the session that he liked the way Manuel came out and performed. However, the evening wasn’t without its bad parts, either. The low points for Manuel? Having more than a few misfires that missed, well, badly for the intended target. He threw a crossing route to Robert Woods that was about two-and-a-half yards behind the wideout. Manuel also had a handoff he probably wanted to have back, giving the ball to Bryce Brown and then promptly ran into him, which forced an eight-yard loss.

Watching the Twitter feeds last night, EJ was hot and cold. Some great throws and some horrible throws. But, he didn't suck as much as the rest.

    5) Schmidt shines
Somehow, I think this observation will be important this year.

Is reminiscent of all those training camps where the media would come away saying, "well at least Moorman punted well."
