Is there a chat box? Where is everyone?

In any event, so far an offense featuring 5 yard passes.

Mr. Pink
08-14-2015, 05:10 PM
Why Robert Woods sat down 2 yards short of the first down baffles me.

And why they're back to shotgun on 3rd and short also baffles me.

Shady looked good on his one catch.

cookie G

a 4 yard pass on 3rd and 6...

expect to see a lot of that this year.

Just like last year

and the year before

SpikedLemonade

Shady made them miss tackles. We did not see any of that last year.

SpikedLemonade

I would like them to test this OL by running between the tackles.

There is one designed to do so but there was no hole so Shady busted outside.

Mr. Pink
08-14-2015, 05:17 PM
The run blocking is abysmal so far.

Cassels throws have all been on target at least, even if the majority are 4-7 yard dump offs.

2 penalties on Mulligan already. I was prepared to give him one mulligan, but not two.

Mr. Pink

That last play would have been better off being run to Clay instead of Mulligan.

Too slow to make that work.

You can see how desperately they want Mulligan to make this team since they realize they don't have a TE other than him who can block worth a crap.

I can't wait to watch the defense this year.

Bring on Tyrod. I've seen enough of Cassel's dinking and dunking short of first downs. He is who he is. I want someone that can match the excitement and big play potential of our D and running game.

SpikedLemonade

I would like to see Harvin returning punts. If we don't use him for punt and kick off returns, I expect we will be overpaying him given a limited offensive role.

The only thing we've seen Goodwin ever do here on offense is run fly patterns, which he missed on there...tough catch though. You're gonna have Watkins, Woods, Harvin, Hogan, Easley as the top 5 WRs...which leaves only one spot open, imo.

You're reading too much into my post. After watching 15 years of lackluster football, it's nice to see someone has passion for the game and is legitimately working to win the job. Crazy to say, but football is supposed to be entertainment, and I find watching Taylor entertaining. I'm not saying he's the man for the job based on one preseason game or anything like that. But it's simply more fun watching this offense score points with Taylor than it is watching Trent Edwards v.2.0.

There's no fair comparison between Cassel and Taylor.

I'm not trying to be facetious..but between the scrimmage and the 2 drives in today's game..how many TD drives has he engineered?

0 of 7?

Forget preseason, or scrimmage, or vanilla offenses...etc. etc....

This is what you get from a guy like Cassel...and Cassel in particular.

You might get a decent completion percentage, move the chains for a few first downs, but getting in the endzone is a rarity.

Anyone can throw a 3 yard pass on a 3rd and 7 if that's what "the defense gives them".

Give me the guy that makes an attempt to convert the 3rd down...and give a raise to the guy that actually converts it.

4 years of Trent Edwards was more than enough.

Or you know he could have put a little touch on the ball making it easier for Gray to catch it.

But does touch not matter? If it doesn't, then it gets rid of one of EJ's numerous flaws.

How many good QBs in the league throw 98mph fastballs to guys wide open 5 yards in front of them?

I'm not dismissing EJ's flaws I just wish some would see Tyrod has many similar flaws but because he's a little faster and maybe quicker on his initial read people don't want to or can't see them.

I saw nothing out of Tyrod Taylor tonight that I haven't seen watching guys like Brad Smith, Troy Smith, Eric Crouch, Tim Tebow, etc running the option offense in college.

And then EJ goes out and throws the best ball of the night.

Consistency would go a long way.

Again 14 NFL starts, is it enough to dismiss him? I go back and fourth.

Hey good for EJ!

It was getting painful for a while there.

That is why EJ got a first round pick and why coaches are so reluctant to give up on him. He threw that fifty yards in the air without even setting his feet.

Sure wish he could hit things more consistently.

EJ clearly has the most physical talent of the 3 QBs but he just can't seem to be consistent and make his reads fast enough.

No, it's not.

Isn't part of a QBs job to make passes?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Sweet to see what he can do when he can do it. Looking forward to the rest of the preseason.

Yes, especially against 3rd string/bubble players.

Agree on Tyrod, he's gonna have to show he can throw the ball a little to be a legitimate QB option.

Problem with EJ is we've seen a lot more of that first series with him in there, than that second series. If he was even close to 50/50 on looking good and looking bad it would lend to more confidence that he could grow as a player.

One of the things that I've noticed watching him play is that when he has more time to think about what to do, he overdoes it and the throw is off in some manner, accuracy, touch but when he's just out there and makes a reaction based on ability and wings it - good things happen like that TD pass.

No, it's not.

i have nothing against taylor but he ran 3 times and didnt complete a pass on first TD . had one nice completion for 10 yards next series with a massive run after the catch.

im sorry taylor needs to show he isnt a 3 second a run guy before i think he is anything.

tonight to me has shown all of them are on the same level basically........

just who does rex believe in

I agree EJ gets in his own head too much. If he just goes out there and plays he's great. He reminds me of RJ in that sense yet he's more durable and seems to have a better pocket presence.

Listening to Jim Kelly talk, it is clear why he will never be a NFL Coach.

He just isn't very smart.

He had a specific skill where he could read a play and execute quickly, but playing chess against him would be like playing a bag of hammers.

I suspect he has some brain damage by now.

Watching these 3rd and 4th stringers is pretty irrelevant these days when we have a good starting line up. When we really sucked, they had a chance to make the team.

I like looking at Jim Kelly more than I like listening to him.

as i do you :)

i dont care who is the qb

part of me just wants to see a young guy with a potential to be the bills qb for the next XXX years

part of me gets what cassel seems to be able to do with getting ball out fast and running an offense with rhythm.

and ill be honest i see flutie when i see tyrod i wasnt impressed then wont be now.

we need to draft one and hope one of these 3 chumps does something this year

That play made there by Webb is just as impressive as anything Tyrod did tonight, if not more, and he's the Panthers third string QB.

Just for some perspective of those of you who are on the Tyrod Taylor is God train.
