CCM made hockey equipment long before Reebok bought them

Ugh..

Moving to a new jersey supplier may be a natural transition for the NHL to begin introducing on-jersey advertising, several league sources told TSN.
During a meeting of NHL team presidents in New York last year, league officials estimated they might raise $4 million per team – or $120 million annually – by allowing corporate sponsors to put their logos front and centre on jerseys.

On jersey advertising... No. Just no. I know it's about money in the end, but being a shill has to have its limits. I'll accept the manufacturer logo but I'll never buy a jersey with a corporate logo beyond that. Bettman and Goodell seem locked in a competition over who is more incompetent.

And ccm ceased to exist in about 2005? Reebok brought back the ccm name in about... 2013? And now reebok is going away in the hockey game.

And yes, there are major differences between reebok and ccm equipment.

No. It always existed. Reebok just bought the right to put their logo on ccm equipment.

Isn't the Reebok / ccm/ nike/ Adidas logos advertizing?

I don't see the big deal and the faked outrage. You "kids" will buy your favorite players jersey and there will be 10 threads each year about jersey (sweater) orders and "Who's jersey are you buying?" . I could see a nice Buffal Wild Wings logo looking rather snazzy on a shoulder or perhaps Pepto Bismol on the back near the bottom.

I wouldn't care if a small shoulder patch of a sponsor was on the jersey. No problem at all.

Ever see MLS jerseys? DC United have a huge Volkswagen logo on their chest and a tiny DC United logo on their shoulder. The corporations want their logo to supersede the team's logo and it's disgusting.

How important is it really on the grand scheme of things? People were probably outraged that the nice clean white boards became fodder for Mighty Taco and Tim Horton's at one time. problem would be in the marketing the goods to the public. every sponsor change would require a jersey redo... And recently post pubescent peeps would fork over cash annually to have thier favorite players jersey with the 'Charmin" logo over the right elbow.

Dude

It's not super important, but it does affect how the game looks on TV, which affects ratings.

People won't watch hockey because of a Clearasil logo? They weren't gonna watch anyway then.

"Hey... Do you watch hockey on tv?"

"nope"

"Can I ask you why?"

"I can't stand the Vagacil Logos on the jersey's"

Honestly, I like how the Barclays premier league does it
One sponsor, call it good. Not the yellow pages.

If the league features games with two teams playing in uniforms like the ones I posted above, then yes, it absolutely affects how it looks on TV. It also affects jersey sales.

Do you think the NHL will go that route? Or have small corporate patches on the shoulder and maybe a sticker on the helmet like AHL teams already do? If that's all they do, no problem.

Me too. A small patch won't hurt anything in my opinion. Or, a large, single sponsor like they do in European soccer won't hurt much. Though I hope the main crest of the jersey remains the teams logo.

You don't think there's brainwashing involved in convincing fans to throw out a perfectly good $120 jersey in favor of the new one so they can be a billboard for the correct corporation? Gimme a ****ing break. That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Hell, people still wear Slug jerseys because they don't want to spend on new ones and everyone hated that logo. You can't seriously expect those people to replace their jerseys because the corporate logo changed.

Perfectly good jersey's get tossed every personel move made.

Every redesign... New purchases

every new third... Cha ching goes the register.

there are many here that purchased the slug.

So why would someone want an old jersey that is fashionably outdated?

Now if it's a blank. That is a different story. Surely there will be aftermarket "Fleet Enema" patches made available.

As far as the nascar thing. The logos appear on the cars and racing suits... I would feel like a real tool wearing a racing suit to a race.

BTW... no interest in cars making perpetual left turns ad nauseum.

Do you ever go to the games? If so, do you pay attention to the jerseys people wear?

There are a LOT of jerseys of players who haven't been on the team for years. And I'm not talking about classics. I'm talking about guys like Briere, Gaustad and Miller for the Sabres and Peters, Takeo, Evans, Fletcher for the Bills.

So, it's disingenuous to say perfectly good jerseys get thrown out with every personnel move.

AT the NHL draft there were hoards of Sabres fans.... Didn't see any Roys or Pomms... Quite a few blanks which was cool. There was a lala, but mostly just t shirts... It is summer here in Florida. The point I was making... No amount of advertising on the jersey is gonna stop the ponying up for new gear and many threads started here with China knock off connection deals. That is why there are always high jersey sale numbers.
