All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

I feel it would almost be imperative that EJ at least stays on the roster. If they start setting up the offense around Taylor, EJ is much closer to the same style of QB that Taylor is and he knows the offense. Cassel will be good as a backup option, like he should be, but EJ has a similar skill set to Taylor, though not quite as dynamic. That is unless there is a backup QB from SF that happens to be cut.
I think the Bills could do much worse than having EJ as a backup or third stringer. Hell, we HAVE done much worse.
Not necessarily. Cassel is a better game manager than EJ. If Taylor = Kaep , then Cassel = Smith. Poor man versions of course. 9ers still won with Smith.

For some reason, people seem to forget that Alex Smith is very good ar running the ball. So, Cassel does NOT = Smith.

Smith wasn't made to run the ball. He certainly could avoid a tackle but plays weren't made for him to run the ball. If Roman can make Cassel efficient then Cassel= Smith.
Cassell can run and throw on the run. Taylor is more of a threat to run down field I will give you that ... but the offense does not change between the two. If anything Cassell will be more likely to get the ball into the hands of our skilled players than running down field and that's good.

What does that mean, "he wasn't made to run the ball"? No, he is a QB not a running back. But he is one of the better runners among starting QBS.
teams who carry two qbs generally have 1 that they think is durable. i don't think the bills can make that claim for tyrod given his size and skill set and cassell given his previous history and his age.
it then comes down to ej and simms. and if it's close, i think you take simms and stash him on the practice squad so other spots are open. if EJ is better, then you keep him
Not sure why this logic prevails. Every roster spot is valuable and plenty of teams only carry two QBs.
You could put one of them on the PS but you know they will be claimed right after they do. If you put Simms on the PS he may stick but then you either keep three QB's on the 53 and two on the 46 and can still keep Simms on the PS! Keeping in mind with all the injuries we have had that spot becomes awful valuable and the Bills F/O may decide to relinquish the 3rd QB spot for another....

And for some reason, people think that because Cassell concentrates on short throws, he's this safe, steady, mistake free QB.
He's not. He's a QB that concentrates on short passes and still makes bonehead plays.
If people want to compare him to Alex Smith, well, in the past 4 years, he's thrown more INTS in less than half the attempts. His TD to INT ratio in that time span is 30-34, compared to Smith's 71-23. His passer rating is 20-30 pts below Smith's. Smith's offenses over the past 4 years averaged 24 pts/game...Cassell's, 18.
Alex Smith isn't elite, but Cassell isn't even close being in his class.
He's far more of a Kellen Clemens than he is an Alex Smith.
