PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/buf/buffalo-bills) running back Fred Jackson (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/10195/fred-jackson) returned to practice Saturday after a two-week absence because of a hamstring injury.
Jackson was one of six Bills players to return to practice Saturday after missing Thursday's preseason win over the Cleveland Browns (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/cle/cleveland-browns) because of injury.

OK, but considering the alternatives are Wood, Seale and Hill this is good news.

Please Freddie don't push it too hard and come back too soon. It's just preseason.

Great news. I have a renewed sense of hope whenever he's dressed and healthy.

They say you can’t keep the great ones down for long, something which Fred Jackson proved Saturday, with his return to Buffalo Bills practice. His return from a hamstring pull undoubtedly provided a massive boost to a roster that has been dealing with a barely believable amount of injuries recently.

In that respect, the Fort Worth, Texas native has always been renowned for his ability to recover quickly from injury. Just last year he suffered a groin pull midway through the season, but was back in action just three weeks later.

The sight of Jackson on the practice field is somewhat of a miracle in general. As things stand, he is currently the oldest running back in the NFL.

Jackson said: “It was the plan all along, to get out here this week, see if I could push around on it. Felt good out there.”

Of course, the 2009 All Purpose Yards leader wants to contribute as much as possible. However, he is also aware that he can’t push it, especially with the likes of LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams and Bryce Brown still unavailable.

Jackson said: “It’s definitely something we’ll pay attention to. But, you know, I want to be out here doing as much as I can, too.

“We’ve still got a lot to learn in this offense. so the best thing for me is to be out here participating in practice.”

There were whispers during the offseason, that the 2010 Bills Walter Payton Man of the Year’s roster spot could be in jeopardy with the new regime. In hindsight, this rumor seems decidedly ludicrous.

While Jackson may not be quite as effective as a few years ago, he can still provide a significant contribution. Just last season, he had over 1,000 total offensive yards, including career highs for receptions and receiving yardage.

Rex Ryan is appreciative of the efforts of the veteran running back

Ryan said: “He looked pretty good. I was happy to see him. He was doing more than I thought he was going to do.

“I was kidding him the other day – his twin brother was out here, and they’re identical twins – ‘you know what, Fred can’t play, but you can play.’ We were thinking about doing that.”

The Bills head coach may well have been surprised by Jackson’s workload in his first practice back. However, spend enough time around him and nothing shocks you about this ageless wonder.

These apply to each and every moderator, poster, and staff member.

1. No pornographic, obscene, graphically disturbing material, or links to such material. The gauge used to determine such material is whether a person would get in trouble if the given image is displayed in a typical office environment, and/or whether an upstanding parent would be comfortable showing that image to a young child. 3. No racist, sexist, or other derogatory comments referring to sexual preference or orientation.

4. No Personal attacks or communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, embarrass, threaten or otherwise demean another poster. If you must vent towards a fellow poster as a result of words exchanged, you may do so via private communication such as e-mail. Veiled attacks directed at another poster and determined obvious by a Bills Zone staff member will be considered an attack. Failure to honor or oblige to requests to leave a poster alone by the said poster or a Bills Zone staff member will be considered a violation of this policy. Conversely, if you feel that your rights as a poster have been violated by another, contact a moderator or staff member with your concerns and we will assist you in resolving the issue.

5. No blatant or flagrant bashing of the site or message boards. Constructive criticism is encouraged and welcomed when it is made in the proper forum in the “Suggestions” area.

Failure to adhere to the Terms of Service will be considered grounds for immediate disciplinary action, including the loss of posting privileges overall or in any particular threads and permanent banning. The Zone will make every reasonable attempt to warn users of TOS violation(s) via PM (private message) and/or the e-mail that the user provided at time of their registration.

14. Have fun.

I understand MCCOY but neither Williams nor Brown are more proven than FJ.

Karlos Williams looked very good out there. I think we will be most satisfied with the guy - he's the next Eddie Lacy - and that bodes well for us.

F-Jax is superhuman.

He was supposed to be out much longer than this.

Elated he's back.

Certain elements of his game still elite for an RB, EI his stiff arm, his blocking, his vision, and his pass catching.

Dude's a total asset.

Hope he retires a Bill when it's all said and done.
