    Let's discuss this article

Good press for Bills QB's... Let's keep it positive without all the name calling and know-it-all attitude.

Tyrod Taylor & E.J. Manuel Ranked in Top 10 Through Two Preseason Games

According to Pro Football Focus’ (PFF) overall game grades, Tyrod Taylor & E.J. Manuel are both ranked in the top ten out of 111 graded quarterbacks through the first two weeks of the 2015 preseason.

In 59 snaps Manuel (+3.0) is ranked sixth overall behind Chase Daniel (KC), Scott Tolzien (GB), Ben Rothlisberger (PITT) Andrew Luck (INDY), and Drew Brees (NO) in that order. Right behind him is Taylor (+2.7) who’s played 53 snaps, grades as the 10th overall quarterback and is the league’s top-rated rusher at the position.

E.J. has more attempts through the air as he’s 13 of 22 passing for 188 yards, two touchdowns and an 8.5 yds/att average while Taylor has connected on 12 of 18 passes for 114 yards and an average of 6.3 yds/att. T-Mobile has also been extremely dangerous on the ground running for just under nine yards per carry thus far. We’re not going to get ahead of ourselves after two preseason games because neither of these guys are top ten QB’s in the NFL, but you get the idea; they’re both playing at a high level.

It is very interesting. I think it kinda confirms that the QB play has been stronger than many thought it would be.

I'm not sure if its really fair to use this to say that EJ and Tyrod are better than Cassel though, as Cassel has a fraction of the snaps that those two do.

It kinda validates the thought that all three QB's are going to see time with the ones in game three. Its time to let EJ start and see if he can do it with the ones.

This QB competition may be a lot tighter than most thought

The only worry for me is that like Daniel and Tolzien is that both EJ and Tyrod played against back ups. I know people will cry that Tyrod played against 1s in Cleveland but he didn't play against 1s in their secondary. Just some food for thought.

Im with you there. I don't think that either QB has been exceptional or even close. Preseason does make it very hard to judge things, Players like Tyrod will always look slightly better in the preseason and EJ has looked better but thats another thing thats hard to judge when he's playing against backups. Thats why I think you need to give him at least a look with the ones to see if its just because of his competition, or if he really has improved

I don't mind saying I don't have a clue what's going on with the QB competition or even what they're looking for, pocket-passer, read option guy, game manager, handoff specialist, smallball expert, mobile variation, clever variation, risk taker, mistake less.

I don't think any of them are near so bad as people think, and not as good as people hope. The article kind of sums it up, considering they haven't given Cassel so many snaps.

It is what it is, no idea what to make of it, so I stopped trying.

Its only preseason. You could argue Cassel's numbers would have been similar had he gotten more snaps.
I want Taylor to start. However, if they are going to start Cassel they have to give him more reps. I don't see how you can name him the starter with one preseason game and a few snaps. It will be interesting to see who starts, and for how long.

PFF is terrible. I think our QBs have been better then expected but Top 10? Come on.

It's the internet. If you look hard enough you can find anything to back up even the dumbest of statements. That article proves that again.

The good news: Our QB's are exceeding expectations so far

The bad news: It's only preseason and no one really knows how these guys will fare when the bullets start flying for real.

                    Not much else to discuss.

I was hoping EJ would improve and it seems he is. He has all the physical tools to succeed.

                          Re: Let's discuss this article

the stat analysis on pre-season is hard to make sense of. and its hard to make sense of as a fan. you really don't know what the coaches are calling. they might intentionally putting players into bad looks to see if they grasp enough of the offense to audible out. maybe the electric scrambles are signs that a qb isn't getting it.

from what i can see in the game i watched (cleveland), tyrod put the ball where it needed to be for all but one pass (the one he threw away). He looked less like the guy who looks down field most of the time and sometimes looked ready to tuck and run fairly quickly.

EJ still had inconsistent passes. when he scrambles he looks confused on whether he should throw or if he should run. and there were a couple that he drove into the ground and others way over the guy's head. it looks very similar to the first season. That being said, the guy has a knack for not being rattled. he got them the winning touchdown. his half wasn't exciting to watch (partly from his inconsistency, partly from playing with the 3's and WR as a running back).

I support whoever wins this competition, but i really think EJ or tyrod need to be the guy to have higher aspirations than simply making the playoffs. I think the offense looks competent in the plain vanilla stage. something i haven't see in a preseason game. we had our 6th and 7th string running backs running for positive yardage at the start of the cleveland game. it makes me think that roman and a competent coaching staff can salavage a lot of the weak line play we had last year.

I'm going to use the EJ homers logic for last year when EJ was horrible in the preseason, The preseason mean nothing.

So according to that article, the Packers should bench Rodgers and start Tolzien right?

                              Meaningless junk.
