QB 'DodgeBall"

Considering all three QB's are supposed to see time with the first stringers against Pittsburgh maybe we could try to have a little fun with it.

Choose up sides, and QB's will receive positive points for 'good' plays, and negative points for 'bad'. I'll come up with a specific scoring system in the next couple of days. Maybe I can provide some play-by-play, dodgeball style, during the game.

I went with Team Tyrod, just because I have a feeling he gets the most snaps and won't do anything crazy stupid.

i don't really care who wins the competition. i would just like to see the guy who gets the most snaps to be capable at keeping the offense moving. i don't need to see points if we are seeing 6-10 play drives taking 5-8 minutes. i would guess the actual strategy and gameplanning wilil put up points.

and when the number 2 goes in, i hope he looks very sharp because:
1. he may very well get playing time due to injury or ineffectiveness,
2. if they are all doing well like advertised, the second qb should feel like he's playing amongst children as he runs against Pitt's 2's.

I voted Cassel as as he's the best pure passer we have on the team and ultimately that's what we need to look for. Yet I'm okay sprinkling in Tyrod here and there or if McCoy can't start the season I might be more understanding Tyrod getting the nod as gives us some running help as while I like Freddie and Karlos/Bryce as backups I don't like them as feature 20 plus carry RBs.

That last part there… that’s not good.

yeah very troubling. if he starts we are going to see compressed defenses every game

that can work on a team with a good defense and running game but the dink and dunk quarterbacking has to be close to perfect. its very tough for a qb to succeed without being able to force the defense to cover the back side of the field. they have to be very precise, probably at least 65% completion rate and very few turnovers. and thats just NOT matt cassel. his compl% in seasons he started most games is barely 60%, and thats just not going to be good enough

if they do start cassel i dont think it will be more than four or five games before they realize they arent going anywhere with him and turn to ty or ej to try to push the defenders back

There's no doubt this will happen. I think with all the hype (deserved or not) Taylor has been getting, if Cassel or Manuel start people will be calling for their heads with the first incomplete pass. I imagine the same will happen if Taylor gets the start, but nowhere to the extreme that it will be with Cassel or Manuel starting. It's pretty childish behavior from fans, but that's what become the norm on message boards.

Votes are insignificant....I think Team EJ has a legit argument that they won the match, but the head official (Ryan) awarded the win to Team Tyrod. Team Cassell wasn't even a factor.
