All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

This is why I don't blame players for extracting every dollar during negotiations.
Re: This is why I don't blame players for extracting every dollar during negotiations
I don't have any problem with NFL players getting every penny they can. Their contracts aren't guaranteed and their bodies take a beating. MLB and NHL on the other hand............
I firmly support every players trying to get every dollar they can out of a team.
Not to argue here but Fred didn't get cut because of money. He got cut because there were better players on the team. He was taking a roster spot. Last I looked the Bills aren't a charity. If the roster spot was open I think they would have kept him because this is a PR disaster.
I love Fred but he's not Dareus or Hughes or Williams. Hughes gave us a home down discount and he should based on us believing in him. His career would not be the same without the players around him. Same goes for Dareus. The bills take a chance everytime they draft a guy. If they excel than the team doesn't deserve a little kudos? We took Fred out of NFL Europe. His agent could have shopped him multiple times but my guess the market wasn't better than what he had here.

I agree with what youre saying, but I think money might have been at least a little bit of a factor. They have a cap savings of $2.7 mil this year without him. No savings going forward but that 2.7 might be significant with the extensions theyre trying to get done

I'm nat a cap specialist but If Dareus gets a newl deal does this year's cap have any bearing? With Fred's 2.5 Million I think we are 8.8 million under the cap. If we cut Cassel that get's us to 13 million? Other than player we sign this year how would that effect contrcat's like Glenn's, Bradham's, etc.?
To cut a guy like Fred in such an unceremonious way is such a perfect reminder of how the business operates.
It's amazing owners have managed to trick fans into being angry when a player holds out.
What "trick"? Owners inherently represent the team that fans root for. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why the vast majority of fans tend to side with the owners/teams.
People can want the best deal for their team while also understanding why players hold out for more money.

Teams are allowed to roll over unused cap space from this year to next year. In other words, the money can be used to sign players next year.

Yes, it's a trick. Fans will bash a player for demanding more money from his team and defend an owner that demands more money from his city.

Thank you! So Matt Cassel might be packing up after all. I've waffled on Cassel because he's one of the better backup's out there but his number would be a big detriment.
Alot of people will stop crying for Fred when Dareus gets a new deal and Whaley tells everyone that they had to make room for his new contract and other players.

Yeah long term the release of Fred was a business move. I love Fred and everything he's done in buffalo but lets be honest here he has what maybe 2-3 seasons MAX left in his career? If this move is to help us make space and keep the elite young talent we have it is absolutely worth it long term
