View Full Version : Is Fred Jackson a Hall of Famer?

His Bills jersey is already in the Hall of Fame when he became the first player in league history to compile 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards on kick
returns in a season (2009). He has rushed for 7147 yards (counting his Sioux City and Rhein Fire stats ), still counting and he is in the class COREY
DILLON (8,061), GARRISON HEARST (7,885), STEPHEN DAVIS (7,234), CHARLIE GARNER (6,986), PRIEST HOLMES (6,692), FRED TAYLOR (6,356),
and RICKY WILLIAMS (6,354), ( possible future Hall of Famers? ), but closer to TERRY ALLEN ( 8,614) who's in the Hall.

He has a combined 83 touchdowns with the AFL and NFL, that's more than a number of players in the Hall. I think he has a legitimate shot to at least be
nominated for induction the same way they inducted Warren Moon in the Hall because of his combined CFL stats and NFL stats and Jim Kelly's USFL and NFL
stats, but may have to wait a while to get in. So the question, is he a legit candidate or not?

the fact that our own Thurman Thomas wasn't a first ballot hall of famer and that it took Jerome Bettis so long should tell you all you need to know

He's never even made the Pro Bowl, much less All-Pro.

I love Freddie as much as the next guy, but let's not be delusional.

He's a potential Wall of Famer, but more for his effort and contributions to the locker room and community. But he has zero chance of making the Hall of Fame. Unless you're talking about Coe College's Hall of Fame.

Obama should award him the medal of honor.

He has a shot with this but he needs to change his name to Fred Denali

I love Fred just as much as anyone, but there's no way in hell he gets into the HOF unless he rushes for 2000 yards this year, next year and the year after.

They'll put his bust right between Greg Bell and Joe Cribbs.

Cribbs is one of the most underrated Bills in history

Uh...negative.

LARRY Allen, not Terry, an offensive lineman.

Or maybe you mean Marcus Allen...

12k yards rushing
18k yds from scrimmage
6× Pro Bowl (1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1993)
2× AP First-Team All-Pro (1982, 1985)
AP Second-Team All-Pro (1984)
Super Bowl champion (XVIII)
Super Bowl MVP (XVIII) (1983)
1982 NFL Rookie of the Year (PFWA, NEA, SN)
1982 NFL/AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year (AP, PW, UPI)
1985 NFL MVP (AP, PFWA, SN)
1985 NFL/AFC Offensive Player of the Year (AP, UPI)
1993 NFL Comeback Player of the Year (PFWA)
First player to post more than 10,000 yards rushing and 5,000 yards receiving

Maybe you're thinking of THAT guy.

Not even close. But he is a first ballot wall of famer. No question there.

Fred simply wasn't given enough opportunities here. We kept drafting first round RBs that weren't as good as him.

What he did was provide rock-hard leadership and play with the opportunities he was given. He made game-winning plays for a team that largely sucked ass for his whole time here.

He's the best player we've had in the unfortunate era he happened to play in. Hands down.

On a better team that wasn't obsessed with wasting first round pick after first round pick on half backs that we didn't need his stature would have been even further solidified.

But no solidification is needed here.

Fantasy football leagues and stat compilers can't possibly know how good he was. Only a die hard Bills fan would know that this was a special player worthy of all the local love he received.

Doug Whaley sucks. He's not a good GM. I hope he and his legion of analytics nerds are gone real soon.

No. Great story of him being undrafted, playing in NFL Europe and then playing for the Bills...

At the end of the day he was an above average back, who won over Buffalo because he is a great guy off the field, and has an underdog story which an underdog town loves.

I love Freddy...he could possibly be a Wall of Famer...but the guy never even made the Pro Bowl, so the chances of him making the Hall of Fame are -0.
